Not a bad pickup for the Legs .. They'll lose a couple again (as most clubs will for various reasons these days)

I think there are about 20 Norwood players I'd like to see drafted.

Ha. Actually I think it goes a bit further than that. Whilst there can be no denying the value of quality personnel I think this years result confirms the system that Norwood has in place is the real key. Another thing that shouldn't be over looked is that all clubs took a hit to depth with AFL listed players being removed, and Norwood were quite fortunate with their injury toll which saw key senior players like Webber, McGuiness, Bode, Panos, Baulderstone, Newton, Phillips, Dawe miss no more than 1 match. Other clubs (as West fans would well know) didn't quite enjoy the same luxury with player health.

Yes.
I think Norwood have two advantages. One is a good system of bringing home-grown players into the senior side. They've had several 18 year olds playing good league footy in recent years, which is a credit to them.
Secondly, they are fortunate to have some wealthy backers, which means they're often in a position to outbid other clubs for key recruits.
As well as that, the other clubs haven't yet worked out how to overcome their game plan.
I picked them as premiers earlier than most in my weekly 'Ratings'. I see them as the team we have to beat to stop another Centrals type dynasty.
Separately, probably 5 clubs have financial problems and 3 don't and this has the potential to widen the gap in the competition. The challenge for the 5 stressed clubs is to overcome that. I'm confident West can do that.

Could this player return from Brisbane to the Eagles, if he isn't picked up again by another AFL club?

Thanks BP and Phil H.
If Johnston and Petrenko are signed by North and the Eagles, we'll almost certainly add them.

Ben and Luke have been valuable contributors to the Sturt F.C. over the past 3 years. We certainly thank them for that and wish them well in the future. Along with James McLeay, they were the ones we expected to retire. A couple of others may be considering their futures, but that's the way it goes. Opportunities for some of the younger, 50+ gamers to step up into leadership roles.Big Phil wrote:Ben Kane and Luke Panozzo have officially retired from SANFL footy, after very both had good careers with Glenelg and Sturt...
