Sheffield Shield Cricket 2014/2015
i went down today for the first couple of sessions, while there a friend told me about the new point scoring system & to me it is a total joke, how this system will prepare players for test cricket is beyond me..............on the way out i stopped as the Australian T20 squad (barring those in Dubai) were training on the number 2 ground

Once again Sayers bowls brilliantly.
UH, remember when SA batsmen were ignored for national selection, because the Adelaide Oval pitch was too easy for batsmen? It never seems that way when our bowlers take wickets, does it?
Latest, 2/150 odd, looking good.

Great win by the boys. Mighty effort by Sayers. Given the abysmal performance by our fast bowlers in UAE he might be a surprise replacement if he can stay uninjured.
SA players used to have to be twice as good for twice as long compared to some of the eastern states selections as our pith was too good. It does seem we are the forgotten state for National selectors but to be honest, we really have not had many players who are of a consistent test standard in recent years.

Sayers best medium pacer in Australia
Botha , arguably best the off spinner in Australia
Zampa , arguably the best leg spinner in Australia

Sayers....very miserly bowler
Botha......should be playing against Michael Van Gerwen, Phil Taylor & the other dart players of the world
Zampa........perhaps in time but in the last month or so i'd suggest Boyce has gone past him

Sayers should be in the Test side. He offers something different from the likes of Starc.
He also gets wickets on flat tracks.

SA 4/304 at stumps on day one versus Victoria
Ferguson 137*
Ludeman 98*
these two have added an unbeaten 197 run partnership
was good to talk to Scrappy, Don & Peter Siddle today
Tremain bowled way too many bouncers in the last session today

What the ?
Tremain bowling with the 2nd new ball , bowled almost the entire spell with short pitched bowling at Ferguson and Ludeman
When a quick gets a new ball he needs to be a bit smarter
He gave himself no hope of getting LBWs bowled or stumped !
Caught somewhere was about the only mode of dismissal possible , and that with a new ball BORDered on lunacy
It appeared that Peter Siddle agreed with a section of the crowd that were remonstrating with Tremains bowling tactics

Re: Sheffield Shield Cricket 2014/2015
Bayman tells me SA are 8/111 in their second innings.
This is on a deck which produce over a thousand runs for only 15 wickets before that.
I've been patient, but I think it's past time to do something about these predictable collapses.
Victoria were criticised for batting on, but they no doubt thought they could bowl us out easily and they're right.
Next match: Redbacks v 36'ers.

South Australia 8/431
Victoria 7/607
South Australia 130 all out
so after 15 wickets falling for 1041 (average 69.4)...we lose by an innings & 46 runs with the obvious average of 13 for the last 10 wickets

I saw how the pitch played today
Either team with a fresh bowling attack was always going to be a handful
Will never know but I reckon Sayers would have been a very dangerous bowler to face if rested fit and fresh
I am still stunned at the amazing pitch transformation between the VI to the SA innings today
How can that be ?

I think this is part of the problem
This is averaged out over many seasons
Its the Adelaide Oval pitch that is a problem
AO pitch is often enough a batting paradise
Our batters often look very good and productive when its flat
However SA batters have the same problems that sub continent batters have in Australia
The other Australia pitches are usually more productive for bowlers and our batters find it hard to adjust at times
Opposition batters find it easier to adjust to AO then our batsmen do away from home
This match typifies my comments
When it was a darling of a deck SA got to 8/431
When the deck deteriorated SA made 130
Just another example , albiet different
I was a young middle order batsman on hard wickets
I had a couple of great seasons of batting making many runs
I was coaxed to play turf
I could not make a run
On turf the ball kept lower, and I was getting out LBW and Bowled more , and found it hard to score freely
The moral of the story is I found it hard to adjust
As a hard wicket middle order batter with the shine of the ball there was not much swing and the ball bounced evenly
On turf the ball kept lower and moved of the deck a lot more
Anyhows, I've been saying this for what seems a lifetime, we need Adelaide Oval decks to give more assistance to ALL bowlers , that way our batters will learn to be more adaptable

a lot of day 4 pitches this year have deteriorated including the Adelaide Oval, so perhaps the groundsmen have been told to prepare pitches to enable results for shield cricket
