At least 1 club looking at commentating their own games with their own people...

Not sure how the opposition fans would feel about a bias call?

not a bad idea by the clubs, could work, a bit of bias in some calls at times already though which is to be expected a bit.

Somewhat similar to how US sports operate, with each club making it's own broadcast arrangements for non-nationally televised matches.

To a lesser extent, you already have this here with 5AA's coverage of Crows and Port AFL games, which is largely ex-Crows/Port people calling with very heavy bias towards the two teams.

not my place to name anyone, just can be heard at times in calls particularly in close finishes. all callers support a team, nothing wrong with that unless it interferes with a call

Yes but that one person even if the ocassion momentarily gets the better of them, has 2-3 or 3 others on the team who don't have a bias, to help balance it out.

Also everyone currently would have knowledge of both sides and at least start with the intention of providing a call for both sets of supporters listening in.



This is different to where the purpose is for the whole commentary team to call a match from the perspective of one side with minimal mention of the other.

Whilst this is fine where the audience is heavily skewed to that one side, ie FIVEaa calling Crows or Power in the AFL against an interstate side
 BUT for mine it would hardly work at SANFL level unless there were multiple broadcasters.

Well he was as of last night, Phil, but if the rumour was on another forum, it must be true. 

If so, given he's a contracted player, I'll look forward to the compensation.

How would it work if a club wanted to broadcast it's games ? Doesn't seem at all feasible ? To me it is like Westies commentating at Richmond on 5 aa as an example . Unless it's some other form.

Most likely it will be a web stream from the club's website, possibly with a link from the SANFL website I would guess.
