No, I since realised the link that I posted was an old one and not relevant to the post...

On a separate note from football, reports that former Central District premiership player and assistant coach Luke McCabe may be among those to lose his home in the tragic South Australian bushfires.

Confirmed, unfortunately...

Terribly sad news, not just for Luke and his family, but for ALL of those affected by the fires...
One of my close friends at work found out today that her Daughter and Son-in-Law lost their house and belongings out at Mallalla...
So sad and puts life into perspective, doesn't it?

In response to the rumour and speculation about Lewis Johnston’s future at the NAFC, we would like to confirm the following.
After several meetings over the past couple of weeks with the Coach and management, Lewis has advised that he no longer wants to be part of the team at the NAFC. Lewis, as we know, has had a terrible 12 months with injury and has played very little football over the past few years. In addition, a week prior to pre-season training he broke his big toe playing basketball which disappointingly resulted in another period on the sidelines at this crucial time. As our supporters have rightfully demanded, there has been new standards and expectations set at the Club after a horrible season on field, and all players are required to commit fully to the program under Josh Carr. Lewis doesn’t wish to commit to this, and has indicated he prefers not to play. Lewis has not had his contract cut as rumours suggest, although he was invited in to have his contract discussed with the aim to remind him of his obligations to his Club and teammates off the field. In any case, this meeting never took place and is not the reason for him wanting to leave his teammates.
We all share the disappointment of this with our supporters, however be assured Lewis is a contracted, required player at this Club and therefore is not able to speak with any Clubs without our permission as he knows. We will continue to work with him on the issues he has as we know how talented he could be, but at the same time the new football program will not be compromised by any player who doesn’t want to buy in or play for the Club.

Looks like good info bayman.
But if an "off field discretion" is the opposite of an "off field indiscretion", it seems like an odd decision.

Sorry my error, i should have checked my typing, the word as you suggested should be indiscretion........there is a section at the club that has ''high flyers'' on it with the names & photos of these players, Lewis' name was there but his photo had been removed, this was about a month ago, how long before then was it taken down i don't know, but i do know that he got the dcm for the off field indiscretion......hence my ''coop'' comment in my original post so everyone knew which club it was

a few harness stables been hit too, with the Kerry Green & Phil Westbury stable hit the hardest with everything burnt to a crisp & most of the animals dead, a few can be saved but it'll be a long time before those animals are back to normal if ever, Phil was quoted as saying ''30 years worth of wonderful memories gone in less than 5 minutes'' (or words to that effect)
my thoughts & prayers go out to every person affected by this devastation

Like Bayman, my thoughts also go out to those who have suffered in the devastating fires. As one who has family members in the affected area, I spent an anxious day and night. Fortunately my family members came though unscathed, but just by a few hundred meters! Luck plays a huge part in these matters.

After all the afl draft circus stuff is done, is that usually when sanfl clubs go hard at guys that aren't signed up?
Maybe Lee might know, but when is the normal window on these "would be" and "ex" afl prospects?

Looking at a couple of possible homes? An elementary decision?

Speaking personally only, from limited experience, recruiting is very difficult, with a lot of hurdles.
There are recruits a club might have been in contact with for a year or more.
Before the drafts, clubs would have identified the types of players to target.
Names then crop up through contacts or managers.
If we talk interstate recruits, you have to have a lot of stars align: They have to want to come; their current club will try to keep them; they have to decide whether to leave their family; leave their job; does their girlfriend/partner want to leave their friends and job behind; can you match offers from other clubs; do you have room in your salary cap; will the draft beat you just when you've overcome all the above; will the player fit into the character of the team; can you get them a job; etc.
Most players want to wait for the draft. So we're now at the time when clubs will soon announce some recruits who were just waiting for draft news and are now ready. Clubs will also be talking to a lot of players who are still available, but the same names will be discussed at several clubs.
So when supporters say 'we need to recruit 2 key position players and a gun midfielder", it's not quite as easy as that.

Cordy would be very very handy at SANFL level, particularly up forward.

Better tell Williamstown, then.

I think that could be a record for the shortest life span of a rumour: started and debunked inside 5 posts.

Matthew Watson. Originally a defender but switched forward with limited success in the last couple of seasons.
Looked very slow and turned like a mack truck at times, but probably still be quite good at league level!
