HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
If you are a Norwood official (not supporter), confirm or deny that your club has or has not done a deal to have the recruiting ban lifted for voting yes
Its a simple question - ALL football supporters deserve a simple answer?
Will you be allowed to recruit outside your zone in 2014?
If so, what recompense will be given to WAFC who served their fine and recruiting suspension this year?

If true, that would be the greatest abrogation of responsible governance possible.
It would reflect badly on Norwood and shockingly on the SANFL.
Horse trading would be respectable beside it.

Channel 9 sport claimed Norwood and West have had their penalties relaxed...i assume the recruiting ban for both clubs have been lifted.

I see a media statement has since been released on SANFL site regarding the issue raised above

SANFL COMPETITION – MEDIA STATEMENT
The SANFL can confirm that the West Adelaide and Norwood Football Clubs will be allowed to replace existing home grown Adelaide Football Club (“AFC”) listed players who remain on the AFC’s list for the 2014 season.
In West Adelaide’s case, this means that Ben Rutten, Jason Porplyzia and Rory Laird can be replaced, with Norwood able to replace Mitch Grigg and Luke Brown.
"When the SA Football Commission handed down the recruiting bans to West Adelaide and Norwood, the removal of AFC listed players from these clubs was not contemplated," said SANFL General Manager Football Chris Davies.
“Therefore, an exception has been made in this circumstance where the current bans would see both clubs further penalised. It should be stressed that all other penalties for both clubs remain in place."

I see nothing wrong with that decision. All clubs must have the same number of players on their senior lists. Where they come from is up to the clubs, as each list turns over every year.

Our Ban finishes Dec 01 - We couldnt sign a player before that BUT now we can sign 3 before that and then as many as we like after that except of course, we are limited by fund$
Norwood can replace 2 players and then no more recruits outside their zone until 2015 UNLESS they are returning norwood players off AFL lists or ex NFC players who have been playing amateur league or traveling OS

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
That is a disgrace.
West's ban expires this year and they could have recruited as many players as they liked after that.
Norwood couldn't have recruited anyone for next season.
So, the 3 clubs who transgressed the salary cap:
Port, fined, no recruiting ban, get 2 players in the mini draft.
West, fined, banned from recruiting, no mini draft pick.
Norwood, DELIBERATE salary cap breach, big fine, mini draft pick, 18 month recruiting ban overturned.
I've been accused of sticking up for the SANFL too much, but this is a manufactured decision to get a vote.
The League should be ashamed of themselves, a total abandonment of standards and justice.
What else did Norwood ask for and get?

Agreed R&B
We should have voted NO
AND it seems crouch wont be allowed to play finals even though he has qualified

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
I'd guess Norwood will recruit two very expensive players to replace a drafted local junior and another they've hardly seen this year.
So much for penalties for deliberate breaches of the salary cap.
And to justify it, West can replace Ben Rutten!!!!
Keystone Cops have more credibility. That is a decision of the SANFL Commission ranking as close to their worst, most undefendable one ever.
Obviously they haven't heard of ethical standards, let alone integrity.
And the above is from a long time defender of them.

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
I know I promised not to say any more on this damned AFL business. But if our "great leaders", from Canberra to West Lakes, can break their promises all the time, why should I hold back? It's already becoming apparent, after just 48 hours, that the "morality" of the AFL is beginning to rub off on us. There's an old saying I'm sure many of you know. It goes "If you lay down with dogs, you get fleas".

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
As far as I am concerned, the the sanfl has become the very beast I abhore in football, viz the many headed monster called the AFL.
whilst at present I just cannot reconcile my club making the decision to support this fiasco, the whole sanfl (save 2 brave souls) seem quite happy to bastardise the competition layer upon layer until whatever semblance of integrity existed is far beyond recognition.
So the unfortunate part for me is that in supporting the club (ie and likewise for any of the clubs) in the "club comes first" philosophy, just entrenches the farce that the sanfl has promoted.
I am sorry to those who can and have moved past that, but I am ripped apart and torn by all this and just cannot do it.
Unfortunately, I almost see that the byproduct of all this, is that those of similar views may become the persecuted heretics who are seen to have abandoned their club.
But, I just cannot see how I can go along with all this, when it is so fundamentally wrong in my view.

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
So Norwood can recruit 2 gun players to replace players they wouldn't have seen again regardless of this deal?
Just as well West can replace Ben Rutten.
What a disgrace. This is one SANFL decision that goes totally against justice and reason.
Sellout, big time. They should be ashamed of themselves.

One wonders if they asked the crows to ban Crouch from playing in the finals as well as one of these alleged conditions for a yes vote
(A conspiracy theory)

Stopping Crouch from the finals appears to go against everything the Crows have said about abiding by the integrity of the SANFL competition.
A forerunner perhaps?

A doctors 2nd opinion (non crow) forcing him to play and forcing their hand would be worth a try

Re: HAVE NORWOOD DONE A DEAL?
Davies justifies the decision by saying that when the penalties were handed down, the removal of AFC players from SANFL lists wasn't contemplated.
1) Yes it was. The AFL Reserves issue was being discussed well before February this year.
2) So what? Clubs breached the rules, they suffer the consequences.
This is an appalling, defenceless decision to get an AFL Reserves team into the SANFL by removing an on-field penalty applied to a team that won a premiership breaching rules that guard the integrity of the competition.
