Good win by the Panthers, massive upset.
Perhaps the two players throwing the toys out of the cot during the week gave the coaching staff the chance to draw together the playing group and prepare to hit West head on. Any player who walks out of a club mid season while the team is (equal) bottom would be dead wood IMO anyway. Good riddance to you, I'd say.
R&B, were the boys properly prepared, mentally, for the game or did they (as some might say) take it a little too easily?

Well done to the Panthers, first to the ball most of the day and they appeared to have more want for it. The pressure applied to West was on from the first bounce and nullified many of there attacks with South playing on at all costs. there first win at home this season and the first win over West in ten games.

I think Westies came into the game not really "switched on" and thought it was going to be a walk in the park. Even the supporters around me before the game seemed quite confident and slighty cocky about the game.
Still smiling today about the win. I am sure West we respond in their next game and Collins will not expect that performance again.

I guess its not a real surprise for one of the top three sides to play the bottom sides and for that team and their supporters to feel confident, I certainly would if I were in their position!
I suspect Westies might cop a hard training session or two this week out of it though and I do think that is a good way for the staff to respond, it is very true that a week is a long time in football and I have no doubt West will bounce back pretty quickly.

I'd say so, Booney. They seemed very flat and their decision-making and skills were terrible.
Having said that, South were terrific and it was easily the most committed South team I've seen for a long time.
They were up, West were down and the Panthers fully deserved the points regardless.

As cynical as it sounds, I was expecting us to fade out akin to our match against the Eagles and that things would eventually click for West. Was genuinely surprised by West's awful disposal at times. Gotta say though I thought we got the rub of the green by the umps. Take those games when you get them.
Bit late too and not sure if it was mentioned anywhere but as well as being Crabby's 100th, it was Wundke's 50th for the club since coming from North. Been a revelation with 160 goals in those games to fill the void of Warren who is reveling at Norwood now.

Scott, how many games did it take Ben to reach the 160 goals.

Re: The wrap up -South V West
spoke to a South player today, he told me ''we fired up after what happened'' so why does it have to come to a head before a team responds with a great effort ?

Re: The wrap up -South V West
It is a strange one, as Stribling was Souths best by a mile against Norwood in a 10 goal loss. Without Striblings effort it would have been close to a 15 goal disaster.
Which leads to another question. Was Stribling the problem?

Re: The wrap up -South V West
One thing I have noticed about Stribling's season to date is his distinct lack of tackling pressure compared to past years.
He's had the second least amount of tackles (12) this season of anyone - behind Zane Kirkwood (10) - that is in the top 25 for total disposals. Stribling averages 18 disposals per tackle, which if you compare to ball magnets Joel Cross (8.8 ), Nick Liddle (9.9) and Xavier Gotch (4.8 ), it is quite a large disparity.
Since tackling has been a massive problem for us since the 2010 season when we struggled to touch the ball, keep in blokes like Caleb Daniel, Tyson Brown, Nic Schwarz, etc whose tackling and pressure is what we need week-in, week-out.
