Riding a horse could cure Diabetes
The friction involved in riding is the reason
This was the opinion of some Greek doctors of the times

Re: Diabetes Type 2
Fantastic stuff Micky. I have been slack getting in here and reading your updates, but am glad to see you are still going so well.
I lost a total of 18kg at one stage and got down to 5.1 - but the last 6 months have seen me 'slack off' way too much - I've put back on about 7kgs, which is not good. But am back on track now - treadmill-ing 2 times a day again so hopefully can peg back those KGs again. New goal is to lose 9-10kg by Christmas - I think I've lost 1 of those...lol. But hopefully I do get there!

Re: Diabetes Type 2
Results from the Roy Morgan data
INCREASE IN DIABETES
Diabetes has increased by 33% since 2007
From 915,000 to 1.2 million
Thats alarming
WEIGHT
Those with type 2 Diabetes are twice as likely as the average Australian to be classified as obese
Thats no secret
EXERCISE
Those with type 2 diabetes do less exercise
I guess some would be incapacitated , but for those who are capable , some forms of exercise is the go
Fitter not fatter is the mojo
AGE RELATED
83% of type 2 Diabetics are 50 and over
A need to be more aware as we age
$$$$$$$$$
More than 50% on the Morgan poll are on low incomes
Only 11% were CATERgorised as being well off
Makes cents if you are wealthyish, you can afford healthier food options that are deemed expensive to some
QUESTION
33% increase in Diabetes type 2 since 2007
Why so much ?
On this thread Ive read about 2 posters who are doing a real fine job in losing weight and addressing their Diabetes
They have created an awareness on this site
The press is creating awareness as well
Surely with all this awareness rates of D2 , it should start to drop not increase?
Against that is a baby booming population who didnt have the level of awareness the current younger generations are having

Re: Diabetes Type 2
I personally think it does come down to 2 things. Exercise and moderate diet. I still don't have the 'best' diet, but I am more aware - the only thing I have really, really increased is the exercise.
Sugar is evil too - it's everywhere - even where you don't expect it
