Re: Diabetes Type 2
Just a little side note I'm going back to the new doctors Monday the 30th . And she will assess my sugars etc!!
So the new doctor wrote the same script that the old doctor had prescribed . I have now got this prescription from 4 different chemist shops in Adelaide and one in Port Augusta .
Went back to collect after I put it in this morning ! And the Pharmacist say "Oh we had to call your Doctor" I'm like OK why is that . Oh sir you can not take this medication as prescribed and I'm saying but I've bought it here and one of your other stores before !! They apologise it had slipped through the system how I ask they were unsure . God I'm so lucky

Why cant you take it as prescribed?
I had my quarterly doctors app today. The positives - very happy with the weight loss, blood pressure spot on wonderful, cholesterol not bad.
The negatives - sugars reading up higher than it has been (since diagnoses - not pre-diagnoses) - so the news is have to go from 'sometimes' food to no potatoes, no pasta, no bread, no, no, NO, NO, NO. Brown rice sometimes.
This is the most confusing part to me - what I can eat, looks like just meat and some veg.
Also need to get my iron levels up (not quite anaemic as told last quarter, but still low) and need to get more vitamin D.
But anyway - will continue the weight loss thing, will try real hard to eat very well and see what next quarter holds....

According to my diabetic GF the pill like insulin will build up in system !!
Mind you wasn't working anyway
Not sure why they've told you that A MUM
Have you done the diabetic course at a public hospital ?
Its supposedly two carbs a meal IE spuds no bread . bread so spuds . Rice no other carbs
And Ive told my new quack no STATIN based Cholesterol drugs
I'll let you know how I go Monday night !! I've had morning sugar readings of 11, 12 and surprisingly a 7 mostly 8 or 9 since my last doctor visit

Before I forget too much meat will push your readings up
So be sure to eat lots of veggies not just meat

It's all just too confusing.
No haven't been on a diabetic course, will see how I go next quarterly results - then might have to think about it.

Re: Diabetes Type 2
Sorry to hijack the thread A Mum
Had really bad news today arrggh
diabetes has gone backwards changing meds but may be on insulin shortly
blood pressure is extremely high again have had slightly higher not much but have
fatty liver has raised its head again
And ghout
Add to this ive had an infection in my left ear and the gland below which flared up at 2am Sunday morning on a farm outside of port augusta arrghh
So I'm being put on a care plan (probably should have been on one for a year or more) going back Wednesday to sign the plan
So off to a dietician Monday not for a diabetic diet but one which help rip the weight off !
Quack will monitor the blood pressure no wonder my heads killing me
What else oh yeah my old notes she cant get as I was a patient of OLD Port medical centre(which I gave a very bad rating on facebook ) . They wont let go of these notes . Did tell the quack two specialists I was sent when they thought I had cushings syndrome you get with tumors so hopefully they will pass on the knowledge
While I do a manual job I have to do some exercise so stop raining so I can walk again !!

Don't apologise for hijacking the thread, because you're not hijacking it that's what its here for
Really sorry to hear you're having so much trouble MickyJ makes my troubles with it all seem minute. Really hope you get some answers and solutions with this new approach.
I am on the care plan program, and have been since day one, so am very lucky in that respect.
Good luck with it all.

Thanks A Mum made it to work this morning think my other issues with blood pressure have caught up with the infection I have at present ! Don't think 180 over 100 are helping . Was leaving the BP meds until the weekend ill pop out and pick them up in a few minutes lmao!!
Yes I think this Care program will be the way to go . My doctor said if it doesn't work I'm off back to the endocrinologist and the dreaded insulin will be on the cards !!
Hopefully that wont happen
And I can not blame anyone but myself . I fell off the wagon or should I say I fall off the wagon at night or when im not working . That had started to change the last few weeks !! hopefully ill be a skinny micky soon
So todays morning reading was normal funny that !!
Ok no feeling sorry for myself
cheers everyone

Yes good luck Micky - onward and upward - hope everything is going to plan !!
It is hard. Sounds dumb to most, but I've taken to eating ice cubes at night time after tea - as this is my biggest danger time as well - my brain thinks the crunch is lollies I'm sure

Re: Diabetes Type 2
A little bit worried that my wife might have it. She had a call from the doctor to arrange an appointment following her post-pregnancy sugar test - and the doctor said she would only call if there was a problem.
Appointment is only in August so there doesn't seem to be any urgency, but still a bit of a worry.
She's tiny too, not at all someone you'd expect to have type 2. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

Fingers crossed - I think she should be 'ok' though if they are not making the appointment till August. When I first got diagnosed the doctor rang me personally and said 'get in here now'. So yes fingers crossed for her.
It may be she is 'pre-diabetic' - so they will give her the tools she needs to not get to that next level perhaps.

Yes, well they said she was 'pre-diabetic' after the last pregnancy so that would be nothing new.
Hopefully it's the same news again.

Re: Diabetes Type 2
Sorry to A mum and everyone else . I should have updated my post !!
Monday night I went to the dietician on the Parade . Was really great and helpful .
I have learnt that I was doing some stuff wrong .
So as of Tuesday morning I started a High Protein Low Carb Low fat diet !!
So what does that mean first of I have to cut my bread intake to two pieces a day . Red meat 3 times a week . Have either chicken or fish !!
Am allowed to have scrambled eggs, baked beans for breakfast or have my sachet of porridge . Am allowed morning Tea now either a piece of fruit or a handful of unsalted nuts .
So yes A Mum it aint easy lmao
Just went to West Lakes and didn't get tempted once to eat something !!!

My blood sugar level was taken at the hospital the other day as a side issue to something else. They said it was high.
What measurements are considered high, normal, diabetic, etc?

Hadn't eaten for about 10 hours and it was just above 8.
Was there for a gall bladder problem, though.
Since then, I've lost nearly 5 kgs

Happy with the results, blood sugar at 4.3 and cholesterol about 5.0 I think.
All clear, no action needed.
