But in all I've read it seems exercise is the big key.
So I'll keep trudging up that hill...lol.

I should say they can be confusing one almost had a fit I had eaten 2 tiny mandarins instead of one !! Then turned around and said you should eat fruit at 3.30 in case you get hungry !!
Or the diabetes quack saying how dare you have morning tea !! Didn't care I have breakfast early for work and I get better readings if I eat morning tea than when I don't !!

Shocked but that's all part of the fun

PS
Work day
Breaky is 5.15 am roughly
morning tea siren sounds at 9.30
lunch siren goes off at 12noon
Walking time starts at 3.30

I know - they are all contradicting to each other.

Some say eat only 3 substantial meals a day.
Some say have snacks.

So confusing.

I have decided just to pay attention to diabetes SA and diabetes Australia advice eat as healthy as I can, exercise and go from there.

And yes you're right MickyJ - always feels good after walking - not immediately after walking, but once you've done it - cooled down - and realise - wow I did it...lol.

The rain has prevented me for 2 days though.
But I should probably just walk rain, hail or shine.

Well I just made it home before it started again!!
Fingers crossed you don't develop gout which some of us with type two get . Because then its really confusing half the food they advise you to eat for diabetes you are told not to eat for gout !!

And try telling these diabetic specialists you walk 8 hours a day at work and lift containers that weigh 12.5 kilos. When I say I lift 32 then do it again and again and again they look at me as if im touched:lol:

I really hope I don't get gout either !!

But I know what you mean - they are saying I have to eat this and that for my diabetes, but that includes stuff I can't eat for cholesterol.

As I said though - the biggest thing that all the specialists agree on that I've seen is exercise.

It can be so confusing though.

Are you using a pedometer at work MickyJ?

No but I do have one . I actually enjoy going for a walk except the left knee means going after work every night is off the cards .

I just thought it would be interesting for you to see exactly how many steps you do at work Smile

I'd be lucky to do 1000 sitting here on my backside..lol.

Hence having to go for that walk Diabetes Type 2 - Page 2 2829010660

I've heard gout is excruciating - so hopefully not FF.

Gout runs in my family. Dad has it and my little brother.

In the last couple of years I've had a couple of bouts of extreme pain in my ankle - and they gave me gout medication for it - but tests didn't indicate that it was gout. Doesn't mean it isn't though.

So painful, the worst I found was when I was in bed. You can't even move. I got up one night to go to the loo and nearly passed out it was that bad!

Gingernuts that is an interesting theory Very Happy
When I discovered I had type 2 diabetes . I asked my parents both in their 70's if we had diabetes in the family . Both answered at the same time "NO"
Then my folks went home to broken hill . Dad was looking for his family when he ran into a cousin . And was told they were in the cemetery and all died from Diabetes !! What do you think I said when I found out Laughing
Even though they say type 2 cant be passed down family lines it missed dad and got me .
Gout not sure if its passed down mum and dad don't suffer !!

As a side note I've had the odd run in with a work cover doctor employed by my company !!
He got really angry one day when I said I suffered from gout .Michael he said you don't suffer from gout !!
So that's 1 against a cardiologist 2 GP's and a general Physician who say I have it !!
He got even more agro when I said I was on a diabetic drug . You cant be Michael last time you said you were managing with diet and exercise Laughing
Funniest thing the work covers nurse was refusing to give me a tetanus shot after a work injury . Why because you take to many medications Laughing

Sorry about that wafting on !!

Progress report...

Last week I fell in a big hole.
It rained all week and I was sick and on antibiotics.
Exercise failed miserably - and food intake not much better as I did not feel up to 'preparing' the right type of food.

This in turn got to me - I became really depressed about it all.

However - that was last week - this week I soldier on - I don't hold much hope for the sun to shine and the exercise routine to prevail - but determined to get back on track food wise and attitude wise.

Don't let it worry you a MUM , We all have little set backs . My quacks not happy with my weight was walking an hour every second day .
of course the weather isn't helping
And I am now on antibiotics due to an infection from having a tooth extracted which is now in my sinuses and upper respiratory tract !!
And he wont give me any weight loss pills cause they'll raise my blood pressure !!!

But I'll walk again when I feel better
And he wasn't happy my sugars went up slightly but my BP was normal today !!

Yes set backs is a good word to describe it...lol.

I don't even really know what 'right sugar' level is.
All the literature I've got says something different pale
I've sort of come to the conclusion that my doctor is not 'that good' so am changing doctors in the near future.

Well at least there's a positive there for you MJ - BP normal is a great thing Diabetes Type 2 - Page 2 2829010660

Thanks Mum:D
Lets say your testing your sugars daily or more than once a day .
Diabetic nurse who are educators will say it should be between 3 and 7 .
Now I don't very often get a 7 in the morning but during the day its normally under 7*for me at lunch it can range from 4.3 to 6.2( today wasn't happy with that if I work harder its closer to 4) .
And that's why I take two diaformin at night otherwise I'd be getting double figures every morning . Was doing that for a few weeks not so long ago.
I had to convince a new GP that I couldn't drop back to 1 pill . Some of them have no idea but god love those young ones for trying !!

I seem to be in the opposite - my doctor increased the tablet dose, but I am thinking she shouldn't have.

Changing doctors anyway - so hopefully will be clearer on it all soon.

Yes - going to go back to my 'old' doctor who got so popular he stopped taking patients and was always booked out for weeks - so I started just seeing whoever was available.

His list is now capped - however now I have more serious issues I am going to try and get back into seeing him - but if the receptionist doesn't let me see him am going to write him a 'personal and confidential' letter so he gets to read it himself!!

And fingers crossed I can start seeing him again.

I have just managed to wiggle my way back in to see my old doctor.

He is booked out a month in advance, BUT, I am now officially back on his 'list'

I'm sure he'll be an awesome help in my diabetes journey - getting and keeping things on track.
