Re: 2016 draw
This will be the first fixture for Tom Hurley, since taking over from Matt Duldig, so it may just take a tad longer for him to sort through...
I would think it should be coming out soon...

Clubs have had a look and Tom will take some last minute considerations into account I would think before it is finally ratified.

I'd expect it to be a bit of a dog's breakfast if they have to spread 18 rounds across a 24-week AFL season.

Expect the League to release a sneak peek of the draw later this week, ahead of the full release in this coming Saturday's Advertiser.
Hearing there are a few changes from last season, including more rounds, less night games and more Sunday games...

And no night footy at a couple of venues that have previously hosted night footy...

,,,and would that be because perhaps 2 teams think that the lights at a couple of venues are such that you cant spot an ant at 200 metres and are therefore not up to afl standard..?

A little bit about the draw, from Warren Partland...

The SANFL program for next season is to break new ground with two games to be contested on Good Friday.
South Adelaide has again been granted its wish to have a Good Friday game following the success of its brave initiative in recent years. It will host Glenelg at Noarlunga.
And Central District and North Adelaide have agreed to meet on March 25 as the two clubs seek to consolidate the northern rivalry in the opening round.
“Both clubs were interested to play on Good Friday and we will be looking to have that as part of the fixture going forward,’’ SANFL football general manager Adam Kelly said.
Traditional rivals Norwood and Port Adelaide will open the season when they clash at The Parade on Thursday, March 24.
The draw for next year will be revealed in The Advertiser on Saturday morning and the blockbuster battle will be confirmed for the Thursday night.
“The Thursday night worked well for us last season and this game will work well leading into Easter and is a great start to the year,’’ Kelly said.
“West Adelaide will be able to unveil its premiership flag on the Easter Saturday, when it takes on Adelaide at home.
“Then there is the game between Sturt and Woodville-West Torrens at Peter Motley Oval on the Monday.’’
The state side will be in action again next year and will face the VFL at Adelaide Oval on May 29. Glenelg legend Graham Cornes will again coach the side.
“Having the game at Adelaide Oval is significant for our players,’’ Kelly said.
“The SANFL wanted to offer that opportunity to the players.’’
The state side will have a new captain this season following the retirement of former Central District skipper Paul Thomas.

Re: 2016 draw
No doubt someone has to play Port Adelaide in the opening round, yet a full strength Port Adelaide with the PAFC players having the full day to prepare for the match suggests Norwood might open their account with a thrashing at their home ground..

Re: 2016 draw
Looks like the Dogs have a new Oval Naming Rights Sponsor for 2016...
Obviously Elizabeth Oval has more recently been known as 'Playford Alive Oval'...
According to the below link, with a sneak peak at Round 1 for season 2016, the venue is no longer known as Playford Alive Oval...

My Money House look to be really ramping up their sponsorship with Centrals and I think they were previously sponsoring North Adelaide, as well?

I was thinking exactly the same thing...
Maybe he will have a massive NAB Cup campaign, get elevated to the senior list and make his AFL debut in Round 1 ???
I'm sure Jonno would be hoping for that, at least !!!

Please. It's Elizabeth at best, the Ponderosa at worst and naming rights is a load of tripe.

In today's economic climate, naming rights is about sponsorship dollars and therefore survival...Booney wrote:Please. It's Elizabeth at best, the Ponderosa at worst and naming rights is a load of tripe.
We all can't have the backing of an AFL club and not require the need for an oval naming rights sponsor

All the best to him but I'd be surprised if he ever plays more than 3 AFL games.

It's these ridiculous, snide, irrelevant comments that make me wonder why the **** do I bother coming in SANFL boards.
Who I support, how that club is structured has nothing.....ah, never mind. Wasting my ***** time.
