2016 AFL draw
http://www.afl.com.au/fixture
The 2016 AFL fixture is out.
Tough start for Adelaide :
Crows start to the season- North (A), Port (H), Richmond (A), Sydney (H), Hawthorn (A), Fremantle (H), Dogs (A), Geelong (H).
I've looked a little more closely ( of course ) at Port :
Port get double up games against Adelaide, GWS, Richmond, Melbourne and Brisbane. Thank you AFL. I'll take that.
Home games of St Kilda, Essendon, Geelong, Brisbane, West Coast, Bulldogs, Richmond, Hawthorn, GWS, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Home games :
Sunday twilight ( Urrghh! ) 2 - Brisbane and GWS ( Not great draw cards )
Sunday 1 - St Kilda
Saturday 1- Bulldogs on Queens Birthday Long weekend
Sat night 3 - Adelaide, Melbourne, Geelong
Sat Twilight - West Coast
Fri night 2 - Essendon and Richmond
Thurs night 1 - Hawthorn
Two **** fixtures with Brisbane and GWS Sunday twilight, but that's the trade off for Essendon and Richmond on Friday night at home and Hawthorn on a Thursday in the split rounds.
Play Hawthorn, West Coast at home. Don't play Sydney until round 20, Gold Coast until round 23. We play Gold Coast once for the year, Sydney once, both in the last 3 weeks?

Showdown is a must win. Have to beat at least one of Sydney and Freo and at least one of the away games against Richmond and Bulldogs. Would love to beat Geelong
5 and 4 sounds nice after 9 rounds. Highly unlikely though.

usually at this time of the year everyone & every club is selling 'HOPE' for the next season, why the doom & gloom Paul ?

Tough start. Play 6 of the 7 other 2015 finalists and the 2 best teams outside the eight. Need to win a few of them before the easier fixtures start

Quite a few Adelaide fans in that boat with Paul.
I can understand why, but to me the draw is a massive compliment to the way we played footy this year.
9 Saturday night games & 3 Friday night games. Over half our fixture in prime time slots. Massive result for the Club.
Yes the start will be tough, but I'm not going to start racking up excuses already, it's only October 2015 FFS.
Hopefully, Tex, Pikey and the boys see the opportunities this draw presents to test ourselves against the best and smash out their pre-season in preparation to give it a red hot crack!

I'm with you Ginge- I'm happy to have a draw like that every year- I look at those first 9 weeks and can see (through my rose coloured glasses) 6 potential wins and 3 tosses of the coin if we play our best footy!!

I'm loving all the night games as well. I think we generally play very well at night.

i hope for your sake they can play well during day games as well, as obviously that's when they play the grand final (for the time being anyway)

I hope you're right and usually I'm not overly negative but we'll be 3 and 6 at best.
Can beat Port and only maybe's Sydney and Fremantle. The latter 2 who we have very ordinary records against in recent years.
Re: 2016 AFL draw
Just had another look at the draw. I genuinely believe we can win all of the first nine (not saying we'll be 9-0, just that we're not out of any of them). Hawks at the G the toughest.
We've Sydney, Freo, Geelong & Port who will all be tough, but they are all on our turf which I think counts for plenty (except for maybe Port).
I'm more in Warrior's court, I'm backing a 6-3 start in the first 9.
