This was a bargaining chip we could use against the AFL for better funding etc.... You dont give away these advantages because the crows or port dont want to play a GF after their senior sides have finished. Tough luck to them - They want to join our comp and then they want everything changed to suit themselves

With 7 doing the Port v Norwood game in round 1, is there any real need for the Eagles v Centrals game to directly compete against Adelaide v Sydney at Adelaide Oval.

In the ABC days, you needed the one 'sacrificial lamb' so to speak to go up against any Saturday SA-based AFL game for the ABC coverage of 2:00 Saturdays. With this not occurring in round 1, just makes the scheduling of this particular game even more strange. Surely the Eagles would be better off shifting this to a Sunday to maximise their home ground attendance.

On the surface makes perfect sense to switch the Eagles v Central game.

Except Eagles have a Friday night game in Rd 2 @ City Mazda v West.

I'm not sure where to ask this, its no big deal I am just interested. Whats the rules for selection of reserves teams for this week? I wouldn't thought any eligibility rules from last year could apply given the big turnover of players.

I've seen the rules, ca, and I know they're very strict about who can play.

There are all sorts of games played type regulations to make sure there are no 'smokies'.

How well it works waits to be seen.

I was thinking the same whether we could count one of Hartlett's missed games as this week considering he has played both trials in the reserves. I doubt it would be allowed though to be honest.

Thanks, interesting to see what the clubs do. We dont have too many left that played over 12 games last year.
