Now Joe Haines retired, South are decimated with quality departures.
Early favourites for the Wooden Spoon next season.

They do have a recent history of recruiting very well though.
I would expect this has freed up a lot of cap space at South, so it wouldn't surprise to see them land a very big fish or two.

2024 will mark 60 years since our last League Premiership. Im afraid unless Im very much mistaken, the drought wont be broken in 2024.
Im led to believe the club will be attempting optimize its home grown talent; of which there is plenty, and give them every opportunity to become regular and consistent league players.
I think the club is over ex afl listed hacks who are recruited because they were on an afl list. Big deal!- theres a reason why they arent on one of the 18 afl clubs lists-in most cases- not all, they are no good or are dh's ...or both.
We've lost some excellent players and some list cloggers as well in the off season. Gibbs, Rose, Broadbent and Haines will be sorely missed, although tbh perhaps its fair to say their best footy was behind them. Going to be a long year I fear...

Interesting post b&w. Was this a conscious change of direction which resulted in some recent ex-AFL recruits moving on, or was the decision made because these players moved on, or am I reading too much in? Perhaps this is the result of the latest review into the football department.

All of the above.

Re: All things South Adelaide in 2024
Good signs for South Adelaide's SANFLW team, winning both of their pre-season trials vs Sturt and North Adelaide. I was at both games for research purposes for the coming season, and the Panthers looked to have lost little of their style and hunger from 2023. Particularly given that neither Lucy Northcott nor Jorja Hooper played in either trial, both being keys in attack.
Some positional changes from 2023 were noticeable and largely paid off well. Team will be wary that Brooke Boileau, while close to best afield against North, may not play much in 2024 due to AFLW commitments, but that hands opportunity to other players to step in and aim to avenge the 2023 Grand Final defeat.

Keegan Brooksby is an out, his wife was just on SEN and said his job at Hawthorn has changed so it’ll be too difficult to fly in fly out like he was doing

i think when his wife said it, it was official then....was talking to a past South player & he said ''sadly they lost a lot of local players because the coach wanted instant success & recruited & its gone the other way, but nobody ever learns because it always does''
