Re: Eagles
Ok now the Eagles have
The Woodville West Torrens Football Club would like to inform its members, corporate partners and supporters that Michael Godden has accepted a coaching role with Adelaide Football Club (AFL). The Club has been fully supportive of Michael taking on this position, as it is a great opportunity and reward for his tremendous body of work.
In his nine years as Senior Coach since taking the role in 2010, Michael has been outstanding in taking the Club to nine finals series and delivering the 2011 premiership. In this time Michael has shown exceptional leadership and continued building and enhancing a great culture for our Club. His guidance and mentoring to bring the best out of the playing group has been a feature of his coaching tenure.
Club CEO Luke Powell said “Since Michael arrived in 2010 his dedication and passion for the Club has been exceptional and has seen him become one of the most respected coaches in the State. Michael had a great ability to continually adapt to the ever changing landscape of football each year, which in turn has always given the Club great opportunities in every finals series. Not only has Michael had an impact on all players’ football development in his tenure, he has also been a great mentor and father figure in their everyday life, which they will all be forever grateful. We will all be sad to see him go but wish Michael all the success with his role at the Adelaide Football Club and sincerely thank him and his beautiful family for such a tremendous contribution to the Eagles family. I know he will always have a close eye on his beloved Club.”
On behalf of the board, management, staff, playing group and volunteers we would like you to please join us in sincerely thanking Michael, wife Trisha and children Jacob, Mikayla and Emma for their outstanding dedication and contribution to the Woodville West Torrens Football Club. We wish them all the success in the future and know that they will forever be a part of this great Club.
In the coming days Michael will release a letter to address all members.
Please also be advised that as of tomorrow the Club will be embarking on the process of finding a new Senior Coach and will keep members informed during the process.
Michael Godden - Senior Coach 2010 - 2018
Coached 190 Matches (120 Wins - 69 loses - 1 draw)
2011 Premiership Coach
3 x SANFL State Team Coach (2012, 2013, 2014)

Michael, of course, played at Westies and I saw his abilities (and his injuries) first hand.
He then forged a great record at the Eagles.
All I can say is that everything said in the Eagles club statement is spot on. Michael is a man of impeccable character, a great bloke and I'm sure that all at West Adelaide unreservedly wish him well at Adelaide

Lee I met him a heck of a lot in his first couple of years a great guy
Easy to talk to.
I've seen posts on another forum the other teams fans laughing their heads off .
For whatever reason I wouldn't answer them.
Especially the reports of 8 players being told not to return yet poster doesn't provide names .

A clause in the contract as all SANFL clubs have.
A fresh start at Woodville and no doubt was on the table weeks ago . Eagles would have known so its no surprise to them. Early front runner maybe a radio personality ?
Who ?

Very good coach who was perhaps unlucky to not have a few more premierships on his CV.

2 Assistants gone and you couldn't see the Senior Assistant staying with Godden moving on.

He was assistant coach at Eagles 2010-12. No idea if he’d be interested or any good!
