Re: Eagles
Yes you are correct, glad you read the club announcements.
(you really should get an Eagles membership the way you care so much about us.)
Eagles currently are undergoing an admin restructure (have been for about 6 months). Every club needs to be doing something similar with new budget critieria set out by SANFL before they receive Football Park money.
CEO being replaced by a combination of upgraded Football Manager and Commercial Manager.
Marketing Manager Luke Jarrad moving back to family in Victoria
Part Time Community Manager (me) going back to one full time job after juggling two intense part time ones for seven years.
and we have a wonderful new Functions Manager start about 4 months back after the previous one moved interstate.
Doesn't appear to be having an impact re onfield performance.
BTW - Eagle Cheer Squad was there at the club tonight finishing banner for Sunday. Will Sturt Cheer Squad have one this week? PM me if you like.

Sounds like a similar model to the one that the Blues put in place a few years ago Phil.
IE General Manager, Admin and General Manager, Footy.
Both answerable to the Board.

Spot on Chambo .... someone giving full attention to the footy within a set budget who is an expert in football. someone else giving fully attention to driving income so the club has a budget. more an expert in marketing, social clubs etc.
All this advised to the Eagles members back in April / May

Re: Eagles
I might also say that the general consensus is that this model has worked tremendously for Sturt.
We ran on the strength of an oily rag before, but the oily rag has been wrung out over and over and distilled and synthesized many times.
I doubt any club has the luxury of complacency in this area, and you definitely need a well organised suite of volunteers to keep the wheels turning. But perhaps this is the new direction of footy administration.
There are parts of it that worry me a little from a sustainability point of view, but whilst you can harness the volunteer enthusiasm, it works.
It would be good if the 8 clubs admins got together to share knowledge in this area. They are not competitors in the off field stuff.
Does this in fact, happen? I really do not know.

Who said I cared about them, just concerned
Well thanks for your concern.
You write more about the Eagles than your own club.
Don't you have concerns about them?
Mine is not a full time SANFL job ... day a half a week (officially).
I suspect there will be new staff announced come the off season.

lOL Eagles cheer squad . Do they have one ? I have walked past some interesting folk behind the goals at the club room end. Is that who you are referring to ? Inspiring if they do .
Who cares if Sturt do ?
Is that 2 SANFL jobs gone ?

All we get are barbs, veiled swipes at members and mods. Some in fact not so veiled.
If you are really so disillusioned with us here, why do you still frequent this site?
I really have little understanding of where you are coming from with all these comments.
And after 1300-odd posts we are still none the wiser which club you are passionate about.
And I do assume you are a passionate sanfl supporter.
I posted a proper response to Phil's comments.
To which he acknowledged and yet to you it is irrelevant.
Mate, I just don't get what planet you're from.

Observing from afar I think it happens more that it used to especially around the finances side. Marketing Managers get together about 4 times a year and share ideas, CEOs meet monthly, always have.
I know I have shared notes of how the Crows game carnival day logistically works for the Eagles with a few other clubs.

Re: Eagles
That is good.
It is the first time I have heard that there is a sharing of minds in this area.
It is heartening and necessary.
I'm not close enough to the club to know these things, but I think more of this would be beneficial.
FWIW, it is very noticeable what happens at Woody Oval in the game day experience.
I noted a couple of weeks ago at Unley there was a Jumpy Castle. Never seen one there before. So small steps, yes. But the wheels turn!

Yes but you have 2 permanent playgrounds at Unley, I want one of them for Woodville.

First time I took my youngest lad to Unley, he spied the playground and wanted to go on it. After 10 mins he was done and never came back to the footy after that.

Oh dear, I had 50% success with my kids. Daughter helps volunteer with merchandise, son is having an independent streak now he is old enough to stay home that is what he wants to do. Might need a 3rd child.

For someone who doesn't put his club up you do attack other clubs a lot
Perhaps you should build a bridge until season 2017
