looking forward to watching this game, if the Eagles can't beat Sturt at home then what hope at a neutral venue come finals time ? i think the Eagles are the best team in the league & will win this week by 4 or 5 goals after a tight contest for the first three terms

Sturt's record against the Eagles since they merged is appalling. Not sure exactly (cue Phil Herden or spelly) but it would be something like 50ish to 16-17ish in the Eagles favour

I was just thinking about that. Doesn't feel as though the Blues have beaten them too often this decade?

Interesting that Port has more wins than the Eagles in that time. Obviously they were a powerhouse throughout the 90's, but since then they've always still seemed to pick up a win here and there

With the win earlier this year Sturt 68 50 19 0 . Sturt seem the Eagles bunnies by that. Centrals had total dominance in the 2000's against all teams. We seem to lose 1 and win 1 against Port most years. No dominance.

Star forward Andrew Ainger will play his 100th IGA League match after making his debut with South Adelaide in Round 1 2011.

probably too late now but perhaps trying a two for one deal or $4.00 entry like they did at Elizabeth, maybe normal entry but give them a free budget & a free sausage & onion voucher for the barbie, just give people a reason to go.....just thinking out loud

As I have said before waddaymean I think you are basing what is a good/bad crowd on 5 years ago not the current day reality across the league.
This year Sturt average 2750 (3rd) across all their games, Eagles 2400 (5th) ..... yes the 5th club out of 10 only averages 2400 to their games, (home & away) that is the reality of where SANFL crowds are at.
On that you would expect average about 2600, adjust for winter weather (drop) and its 1 v 2 status (increase) and a crowd around 3000 to me is a realistic expectation.
A 3000 crowd would also mean that Eagles are guaranteed of home crowd growth this year probably one of only 2-3 to achieve this against a general league wide decline.
Bayman - we have a few things planned for our final home game, stay tuned.

Looking forward to a good game going to tip the Eagles by 10 points, like the visitors guide would be a great idea for each club to create something similar?

Well Sturt surprised me and maybe the bookies
After the 15 min mark of the third quarter they seemed to run out of petrol .
Well done Eagles

I was happy with the $2.17 I got & found out today from a sturt mate that he got $2.37 for the eagles, the corporate bookies have nfi, they look at the ladder & make up a market from that

A large number of blues fans seemed to disappear from the grass by the fox stand when the rain came .
But their voices were still loud 'ball' was always yelled out as a group it seemed everytime an Eagles player touched the footy they were screaming ball mind you I was on the other side of the oval . Sturt fans started off yelling out to many pies Wundke . But we're very very very quiet when Ainger was marking impossible marks .
I think the Sturt cheer squad thinned down to but they changed the Wundke evening meal by yelling out something else .
Ok a bit more serious the Eagles yesterday showed Sturts weakness height down back .
They may have held Wundke and Ainger then Redden and Bomber are out up forward Mark after Mark . Goal kicking wasn't great .
Sturt were the favs Eagles showed how you beat them .
