Re: Magarey Medal
That's some irony isn't it.
A Magarey Medallist gets delisted.
This season has taken the cake for mine in setting all new lows.

Credit to Zac Milbank for updating the count and follow-up.
Are we expected to buy an Advertiser to see the round by round votes, or is it up somewhere else?

Congratulations Matt, what a wonderful reward for your unwavering commitment to the Norwood Football Club, and recognition of an absolutely outstanding season in the red and blue guernsey.
Your attack on the ball, your team focus and never say die attitude in every contest are just some of the attributes which gives you so much admiration from all of the 'Legs supporters out there.
I know your hunger over the finals campaign remains strong, and whatever happens in your football career from this point on, always know you will be ingrained in the wonderful history and folklore of the Norwood Football Club.
Fabulous Phil

Re: Magarey Medal
I saw most of Souths games this year.....Im puzzled that..
A. Joel Cross polled as well as he did, thought he was well down on last years form.
B. Nick Liddle did not poll 3 votes for BOG in any game.
C. Kyle Hartigan did not poll a vote.

West d Port in Rd 22 and didn't receive a vote. I'm sure that doesn't happen often.
What's more puzzling is that Henry Slattery received the 3 votes. Must have been at a different game as there were at least 20 better players than him on the day.
Staggered Tuck, Macreadie and Schmidt received such low amount of votes but I guess they were taking them off each other.

Out of 2531 matches I have with round by round voting from 1987, that's the 8th occasion the losing side polled all votes. First time since 2002.BloodnTars wrote:West d Port in Rd 22 and didn't receive a vote. I'm sure that doesn't happen often.
There have been 21 draws between 1987 and 2013, so that's really out of 2510 losing sides.

too much media attention
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
how much gloss has been taken away from the prestige of the award with basically no media attention (pre count) on it ?
ps, i didn't even knew who won until lunch time today

West almost always receive votes lower than their ladder position.
This could be for a number of legitimate reasons, similar to the fact I can't remember their free kick differential being above the bottom 2 or 3.
Do your records cover any of this, Spelly?

All the medal winners have been worthy, but I think the umpires have got it spot on this year with Matt Thomas.
Would love him playing for the Bloods.

Good selections by the Foot E Times writers.
Of their 'guaranteed' 3 vote games, 11 got 3 votes and 7 got 2 votes, I think.

A very emotional day for them, perhaps the umpires got caught up in it.BloodnTars wrote:West d Port in Rd 22 and didn't receive a vote. I'm sure that doesn't happen often.

Westies won the match but all 3 Magarey votes went to the magpies-H Slattery, Summerton, Gray and on the magpies site they listed L Slattery as there best with H Slattery not in there first 3.
