Ron Fuller Leaves South Adelaide
The South Adelaide Football Club wishes to announce that Ron Fuller has been released from his contractual obligations to the club as Senior Coach. An extensive consultation and review into our club’s football
performance has been undertaken over the past two to three months. This process identified a number of areas that need to be addressed for our club to realise its potential with the calibre of the current playing
group. The South Adelaide Football Club will be in the best position to do this with a new Senior Coach for Season 2014. Ron has issued the following statement, “I would like to wish the South Adelaide Football
Club and all the fine people associated with it, every success for the future.” The South Adelaide Football Club thanks Ron for his valuable contribution to our Club over the past four years. The South Adelaide
Football Club will immediately undertake the process of recruiting a Senior Coach for Season 2014.

Will South be announcing their replacement within the week, and will that coach - who is NOT already at the club - have far to travel?

Fortunately South are near the water, makes it easier to get there by boat, submarine, car or rail.

South would be negligent not to approach Collo and I'm sure they would have or soon will be in touch.
I know Collins doesn't want to coach against West and is sad about leaving us, as I am.
All I can say to the South supporters is that he would be the best possible appointment for you blokes.
Six years at West, he's done wonders for us and everyone (nearly) regards him very, very highly.
He'd turn the Panthers around if he was allowed to do his thing.
That's a big 'if' though at South, I'd guess.

It was a big job at West too, if not bigger. We were a total basket case. South can improve very quickly with the list they have.

South couldn't go wrong with at least chatting with Collins.redandblack wrote:South would be negligent not to approach Collo and I'm sure they would have or soon will be in touch.

He is a hard liner, he will sort out who wants to be a club man and who doesn't. Those that don't will be shown the door. Scary as that may seem, sometimes some one has to make the hard decisions for the good of the club and Collins does exactly that...
He did it at Westies and with no doubt and he will do it again at what ever club he coaches next.
He's not the devil, he's very approachable and will sit down and have a chat and a coffee with anyone. He's great with juniors coming through, gives them a go at the next level if he sees something in them. Sure Westies have had some disappointing losses under Collins, but to gain you must feel some pain at times.
Choose your next coach wisely Panthers, West Adelaide will have to as well.

I am not sure of the financial status of various clubs but know Westy's have been in trouble.
Which current coaches are full time?
Also from the comments above, can South and Glenelg afford a full time coach?

forget this ''extensive consultation and review'' the board receives a letter with numerous signatures on it & acts immediately, fair dinkum couldn't they wait until next week ? anyway with what has transpired South will be good things this week as they got what they wanted
Cobb or Backwell likely to be interim coach this week

Reckon South could afford a full time coach Alaska. I'm certain that Fuller was full time.

Fuller was indeed full time & will get paid out for next year, however there could be negotiations & he may not get the whole amount, time will tell with that one

Love to have Collins at south !!
Seriously , from my personal opinion I would love a approachable coach who you could walk up to and have a friendly chat with . Our past coaches have been very hard to go up to and engage with.
This is a great decision by the club and I am actually really excited about the future for south.
If fuller stayed we would lose so much $$$ with a mass player walk out so for what we lose on fuller would not be as much as we would of with player losses ....
If Collins gets the gig I will be one of the first to introduce myself and welcome him .... Always held him in high regard and unlike Bassett who is in it for himself and could not care about the local comp .... Collins does ! I like that in him

Re: Ron Fuller Leaves South Adelaide
Club says that they have put two seperate offers to Ron and both have not been taken up, - sounds like perhaps court ordered mediation might be the best way to sort it out?
One would have thought that it would have been pretty clear to both parties what would be done when the contract was rescinded but clearly not in this case.
Still dont think that sacking Ron was a good thing but there you go!

Would be in South's best interests to settle this one fairly soon. Ron's record keeping in these situations may not prove kind to the Panthers.

South could end up with the double whammy of having to pay Ron out in full and also pay for the legal costs of all parties.

reading between the lines i have a feeling that South didn't think they would have to pay out a contract to someone they sacked........lets face it South have the right to sack him but they also have the legal obligation of paying out the contract.....Ronnie wouldn't need Perry Mason for this case

Re: Ron Fuller Leaves South Adelaide
If it has panned out this way then South's administration is a little immature in the ways of contract making.
Nobody gets a 5 year deal these days and it was always likely to end in tears.
He was supposed to be the great Messiah that they now seemingly are trying to nail.

Was his contract performance based though? Not making finals may have voided the last season of his contract.

I thought it was a straight 5 year contract.
