Round 22: Port v West - Sunday 1 September @ Alberton Oval

Alberton Oval
Reserves: 11:25am
League: 2:10pm
Last Time They Met
Round 7 @ City Mazda Stadium

I'd be interested now in how the Port players go, seeing as a lot of their futures are now up in the air. I suspect West have now been gifted a win, but then again I recently was reminded why I don't make such bold statements.

Do you think the Magpie faithful from way back will flock to this one perhaps?

Porplyzia needs this game to qualify for West for the finals. Crows name him travelling emergency. Crows previously rule Crouch out, all others can play.
West will be a 'stand-alone' side in the finals.

Rightly so. Whilst they'd be handy inclusions, I'm against having players who have missed seven eighths of the season play finals. Completely unfair to those who have slogged it out for most of the season IMO.redandblack wrote:Porplyzia needs this game to qualify for West for the finals. Crows name him travelling emergency. Rory Laird qualified? Doubt he would be allowed to play.

Hope West win but I suspect the Magpies might be very fired up for this game.

Cheers JT, didn't realise he played 17 games for the Crows this year
IMO he will become a better player than Tyson Edwards

I agree with you HTWWW, we have performed well enough to get there without them, so go with what we have.howthewestwaswon wrote:Rightly so. I can't see that happening. I like Laird a lot so no disrespect intended but Edwards had a lot more natural ability I think.brodlach wrote:Cheers JT, didn't realise he played 17 games for the Crows this year

Yes that's a big call, but I've seen enough of Laird to say he's not too far behind in talent.
Tyson was one out of the box, though.

Edwards had that one quality in a footballer that can't be taught - composure. Had it in spades too.
Regardless of what level he reaches I do think Laird has a lengthy career at the top level ahead of him.
Think West should win today, but you can never underestimate a wounded Magpie.

Yes, today's game worries me, if Port are fired up about the whole Magpies deal.

I'm concerned about today too, really need to get off to a good start.
Is a big call about Laird but remember he is only 19 and he is playing so well. He has a lot of composure, pace and skill. Goes unnoticed on the ground but just does his job very well.
