What Richo is saying then, is that those kicking for goal are affected psychologically. The physical dimensions remain unchanged, of course.

It's not because the posts are too high, it's because the players are not mentally strong enough if that affects them.

Well said, and the bottom line is, if you are concentrating on posts when kicking for for goal, you have the wrong technique. You don't kick at posts, you kick at spaces and targets behind the goal. The only time posts are factored in is when you are kicking from the boundary line, and even then, the height of the post makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.

If the contemporary players is using the posts as a guide, then that would explain why so many of them are poor kicks for goal.

the higher the goal posts the narrower it looks.....think of a train line & how it looks narrower the further away it gets, same with a road & the same optical illusion with the goal posts
