we also dominated the second quarter but couldn't put it on the score board.
This would be not unlike any other club because of the way the game is played nowadays. However, I feel, if we are actually going to win a flag, this is what needs to be cut out - when we are dominating the match, goals need to be flowing our way.
Case in point, the most talked about SANFL match in decades. All that effort for just a 29 point lead at half time. For an out there stat for you - that 29 point lead is the equal highest half time lead for a side to score more in the second half, yet lose.
Love your quirky stats "spell_check".
Under Godden we always seemed to have a lot of the ball but never showed the result on the score board. Our forward system is non-existent. With the previous coach we would defend grimly and get the ball to the centre line and just hold on to it looking for the perfect hit up play, while this was happening the opposition flooded our back line. We never got it in quickly or took a chance, some times I think you have to take a chance and back your players.

I hate to say this but spot on feathers .

Disappointing to have 4 players already confirmed unavailable for at least the first 2 matches - Toumpas (recov. from ankle surgery), Sharrad (susp.), Guilhaus (susp), Firns (susp). Also "Feathers" reported that Lonergan looked "out-of-touch" in his first trial. Plus ? how many of last week's 7 player Missing List will be available?
Might be limping into this season rather than hitting it with confidence! Our depth will be tested early but if we can snatch 3 wins from our first 5 games, we could be in good shape for the remainder of season.

It's getting a little desperate, three hard nuts not playing. I'm finding it difficult to pick a likely lineup.
Hardly any versatility in the team. Jesse Lonergan was that much out of touch I would think about playing him in the reserves. Thomas Schmusch could just about snag an interchange spot as a tall.
Talking to Goof he said the big 8 that were rested were just that, I don't think there are problems there.

'bayman" surely at sometime you have tried to pick a Bay team. I only said a "likely" team, not THE team.

Actually not very often, however I’ve been surprised numerous times with team selections, yet we all know the answer is almost always “team balance”
I have trouble picking winners let alone teams, look forward to seeing you on Sunday

After 4 rounds
WWT 1-3
Not where most of us might have expected , a team I thought were Premiership contenders
A shock loss to WA in round 4 has put the Eagles in a little bother
NW were 1-3 last year , and I was confident they would recover
Im almost sure WWT will recover , play finals, and perhaps sneak into a Grand Final
WWT had a 0-5 start in 2012 and recovered well to play finals that season
They have won a lot of matches the last few years, and are proven Minor Round winning specialists
Beat NA in round 1, might be having a round 1 hangover ...
Had a narrow loss at Unley in round 2
The main worry is losing twice on BIGger grounds at Woodville and Richmond in the next 2 rounds
Prediction
Minor Round finish 3rd-5th

After 5 rounds now 1-4
9th on the SANFL ladder, would be last if not for the NA handicap
Is it season over ?
Tough next 3 weeks will tell, as they play the 3 current SANFL form teams
GL[Glenelg]
NW [Woodville]
SA [Woodville]
They need to probably win 2 out of 3 of those games , and get to 3-5
2-6 or 1-7 makes finals participation very difficult

But IF is an extra extra big word in football

Ok before I get told I’m making no sense .
How do the Eagles improve.
Besides Seb coming in and yes they didn’t recruit tall forwards. Who comes up or in ? Who can help Rowe and Poole up forward . And I think the Eagles held onto some players a year to long .

Predicted in December - no recruiting of big key forwards. Must be a priority next year.
No running power, spread and kicking penetration from our wings, and only Foote and Petrenko are providing this in the midfield.
I think Eagles supporters have to face the reality that we're missing the finals this year and will need a big turn- around to make it next year. A problem was the massive injury list coming into the season and even though that's eased, it's too late.
Positives are Rowe's continuing improvement and Jordan Foote. 2019 will give Lonergan the chance to assess who he moves on.

Interestingly after 5 games we have conceded the most points, our defence over the past seasons has been quite strong. At the same time have 2 of the top 4 on the goal kickers list with 26 between them.

I did see the goal kickers list
I’ve noticed the Eagles win the ruck tap more than not win it when Redden plays .
But something goes wrong in the midfield if the eagles get it out of centre all good .
If the other team does eagles get into strife .

Your a bit behind the times fatty since Sebs comments on social media the men in green go missing. Unless it’s one bald man in green he’s blind and umpires by different rules compared to the other two men in green .
But the eagles are a bit lost this year

EG now over their round 1 hangover
EG defeat NW in round 7 for their 2nd win of the season , and are they baaaaaaaaaaaaack ?
Now 2-5 after 7 rounds
Quite bizarre , their only 2 wins this season are against the 2018 Grand Finalists
