Nothing unexpected to come from the Centrals game today. They jumped right out of the blocks, then when the game was won took the foot of the pedal. Was a much improved performance on last week, and I'd expect them to go up another notch next in readiness for their first minor round clash in a fortnight.

Roosters v Centrals
Goalkickers North (amending Brucetiki): Armstrong 3-0, Craig 2-1, Gallman 1-1, Thiele 1-0, Hall 1-0, Delvins 1-0, Thring 1-0, Hill 0-1, Alleway 0-1, Currie 0-1, rushed 0-1.
As BT said, CD jumped right out of the blocks with their runners and focal points up forward in Colquhoun and Sibenaler, and the Roosters played catch up. Quarters 2 and 3 were a dull affair with both defences on top with 5-1 to 4-2 being kicked, and North finished off the better keeping the dogs scoreless in the last quarter while kicking 5 themselves when they eventually found some space and the runners started running. Allan only played a half and Boras pulled a hamstring in the 1st quarter and there was no focal point there. It can be said that maybe the dogs stepped off the pedal, but North also got into gear. Francou would not have been happy with the 1st 3 quarters where the dogs were allowed the run and find space.
North's better players and there weren't many (which is disappointing after last week's solid effort) were: Handby, Clinch, Delvins, Hill, Armstrong and Craig.

Reserves result:
NA 4-0 7-3 12-4 19-4 118
CD 3-3 6-3 8-4 10-6 66
The Roosters youngsters played really well with a good team effort. Pollock was a focal point up forward and Josh Coulter also playing up forward created problems for the dogs' defenders. Luke Davey was prominent around the stoppages giving plenty of drive after good ruck work from Renshaw and Schahinger. Kriston Thompson playing his first game cleaned up in defence, and he was ably assisted by Dempsey and Buckley. Josh Gregg also provided some zip around the packs and Gavin Shephard played forward and back and did some good things.
Goals: Pollock 6-0, Coulter 6-0, Davey 2-2, Mayes 2-0, Shephard 2-0, Gregg 1-0, Connors 0-1, rushed 0-1.
Best (in budget order); Davey, Thompson, Dempsey, Pollock, Coulter, Shephard, Wooding, Buckley, Renshaw, Gregg, Schahinger.

Re: Trial Games Results/Updates
It's tough being a Blood's supporter. At half-time yesterday, I'd witnessed a polished, skilful display of efficient football that was reminiscent of the first half of last year. There looked to be skill on every line, highlighted by a brilliant display of spectacular marking by a shaven-headed Daniel Webb.
Half-time saw West leading by nearly 6 goals.
We had a 20 minute half-time break and then a different team came out. Much the same players, totally opposite result. Schmidt and Ezard were forced to the sidelines, along with West's desire and system.
From then on, Sturt dominated and the question for both sides is which half of the game, if any, was a true reflection of each side's ability. Although I didn't study the Sturt players, it was impossible not to notice McIntyre, who carved up West's defence at will.
The lessons from the day? For West, nothing's changed. Their best is clearly good enough to be highly competitive, but they have worries on-ball and if their best defence isn't on the field, as was the case yesterday with Ben Fisher and Daniel Caire missing, the are in trouble. Their worst is beyond poor.
For West fans, the brighter spots included the following: Brad Crouch continues to impress, Daniel Webb looks set for a terrific season but needs to work on his goalkicking and Scott Bricknell was a class above in his return in the Reserves. Dean Poynton also showed he'll be handy in that game.
Next week, the first game at Noarlunga. I hope the first-half West from yesterday turns up.

Interesting that BloodnTars put Ferg in the best players. I thought that he was terrible and fumbled the ball all day. Backline was bad yesterday.

Re: Trial Games Results/Updates
R&B you were spot on with your report.
I was disappointed with West in the second half. Im not sure what to make of the game to be honest.
I thought Wests Defence was poor with Hartlett, Fergie making many mistakes.
Michael Still at FF needs to find more of the ball he is similiar to Fisher and both seem to be kick mark players.
Silverlock was also disappointing.
I agree both Bricknell & Poynton were very good in the ressies & they should push for selection in round 1.
I hope the bloods are going to be ready against South as thery play Glenelg the following week in the 1st game underlights at the bay & then have a very short break before playing Centrals on Easter Thursday

What's the story with Bricknell, whenever I've seen him play he seems to be a decent player but see his name in the ressies quite a bit. Is he inconsistent or injury prone?
