It didn't look good.
He trained a few times with Westies.
Think I read somewhere ACL.
Not good for the young lad who was playing his first game with the Magpies.

So then Sumner and Harding aren't recruits for your mob either than, yeah?
That's right, they were from our club before being picked up by an AFL club and then released and choose to come back to our club, in my eyes doesn't make them a recruit.

Spot on he spent a season or two with Sydney Swans and has been recruited back to Port Magpies, therefore that make him a recruit...
How was he recruited back to Port? If he was dumped by Sydney and came back to his original SANFL club doesn't make him a recruit, just like Sam Jacobs isn't a recruit for the WWT Eagles, but is for the Crows.

Not sure what you're trying to say, naturally Jacobs is a recruit to the Crows but that has nothing to do with it.
Haren isn't on an AFL list anymore. He's a recruit to the Magpies for 2012 season, end of story.

Westies juniors Silverlock & Slattery were delisted by Essendon last year & have signed with the bloods.
I class them as recruits for sure

Re: Trial Games Results/Updates
It's not automatic that delisted AFL players have an obligation to go back to their SANFL club.
They are free to go to wherever and to whomever they wish.
Nathan Eagleton is one recent example who ended up at Norwood not returning to West.
Clubs have to maintain a relationship with players they lose to AFL clubs and work on having a pathway for their to come back if things dont work out at AFL level.
Smart clubs are getting better at it.
So yes for me they are recruits as you have to had worked for them to come to your club post AFL.

Of course they're recruits, you still have to sign them. They could go anywhere. MightyEagles by your definition Tiller wouldn't have been a recruit for West but he was for WWT...that doesn't make much sense when you consider they both bid for his services.

Scott Welsh was another who was recruited to Wwt rather than recruited back to West Adelaide.....bottom line is you still have to recruit them back

Not wanting to cause a fuss .But I can see what ME is saying he is implyimg that to be a recruit you must go to a club that you haven't played at before .
Like Welsh and Tiller
Unlike Sumner and Harding etc who returned to their home club.
Not that I'm saying I agree or disagree

So any player thats ever played for their original club albeit at any level junior senior etc etc and they return to that club no matter what the circumstances is regarded as a non recruit???..............well both the AFL and SANFL dont see it that way..
sorry guys that argument is not only flawed but incorrect...

Agreed. All clubs are in the market for a delisted AFL player, regardless of where he played previously.
West didn't sign, for various reasons, Welsh, Tiller and Eagleton in recent times, so Slattery, Silverlock and Westhoff are certainly valued recruits.

Also how did they see Robert Eddy's game, as I didn't watch the Eagles closely.

Eagles skills were shocking just like they were this time last year.redandblack wrote:Also how did they see Robert Eddy's game, as I didn't watch the Eagles closely.
Robert Eddy has a good long kick short passing and handballing was a problem .He wasn't alone Luke Jarrad's short passing in the backline was bad and Phil Raymond he kept getting caught .
Saying the above Eddy has come out the VFL system give him a few weeks to settle in .Kris Kane showed guts his skills like others were down .Will give him a break .

Salter has a 5 week injury foot in moon boot .
Day at CHB
Thompson from the crows .
Redden looks like coming back round 1 or 2 (pitty seeing he beat cox)
Rae must have been injured this week perhaps down back or up forward .
Lindsey or Sumner if they can get their game together Lindsey is quick .
Outstanding in the seconds forward line Harding can he come up rough chance.
Bernie Vince if he gets dropped by the crows LMAO!!!

He said those who didn't play on the weekend, I'm assumming that those who didn't play in either the league or reserves. No.54 for West reserves called Sumner a hack.

Re: Trial Games Results/Updates
Sumner seemed more intent in roughing up his opponents rather than playing footy, which is strange because he is a very good player who really should still be in the AFL system.
Lucky Nat Caruso was taken off in the 3rd quarter or he may have done something he would have regretted as he was getting pretty angry with Sumner at the time.

Sitting on Sumner and pounding him wasn't bad and being egged on by West fans lmao .
Pitty the team that faces west in the real season after theyve had a big loss
