Skippy I can understand being in your list Bayman, but how did you pick the other 2

I had
1 Johnathon Harris
2 James Stewart
3 Elvis Presley

I want to ammend that to
1 Johnathon Harris
2 Errol Flynn
3 James Stewart

How could I have left In Like Flynn from my top 3

I remember Thelma Todd in Marx brothers movies
Born 1906 died 1935
29 years old
Died of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, it was treated as suspicious enough to have enquiries , and subsequently adjudged to have been an  accidental death

Bayman
Have you read the book on Thelma Todd, The Life And Death of Thelma Todd [by William Donati]
Book retails online in some places for close to $36 , it was released in early 2012

Claire Danes looked and acted superb in the movie Shopgirl
She has the look, a cute looking girl , the type you would bring home to meet mum

Morgan Freeman is a great actor , and keeps on keeping on
He played in that excellent movie Shawshank Redemption

When I see Morgan Freeman I'm always reminded of Nelson Mandella

PS
BC
You like the dark haired girls, looking at your list of gals
How did Claire Danes make your list though ?

I'm no movie guru, Scrappy, but I'll rank "Rain Man" as his best role.

"Kramer vs Kramer" and "Toosie" would be right up there as well.

On a sidenote, it fascinates me that the scene in " Midnight Cowboy" where his character clashes with the taxi - "I'm walking here" - is speculated to have been improvisation/not scripted.

Blast from the very very early past

Mary Pickford
Movie The Taming Of Th Shrew [1929]

Mary was a big star in the silent movie days
This movie was a half speaky half silent movie
Mary Pickford by then in her late thirties, looked as sweet as sweet can be
Her facial expressions made this movie
It was a ordinary film , only watchable because Mary Pickford was in it.
Its the only time I've seen Mary in a picture , hopefully not the last

She was married three times
Her first hubby was Owen Moore
Perhaps they were divorced because he might have had debts ....

One thing about the silent and early speaky actresses
The sets don't seem to do justice to their beautiful looks

Mary Pickford comes up well though

Mary Pickford, from what I've read didn't make the transition from silents to speakies
Thelma Todd , I have only seen in a Marx Brothers Movie , and was good from memory

Look it was a long time ago when these gals graced the big screen
So perhaps this is how they could be rated
Pickford superior actress in silent movies
Todd superior actress in speakies

I reckon Mary was the prettier gal though

Fay Wray had them both covered for good looks in those early times
She was the gorgeous gal King Kong went ape over in that 1933 classic film King Kong
Loved that film, and that late scene on the Empire State Building

Fay Wray was married three times
One of her husbands was Robert Riskin , perhaps that marriage was a gamble ....

Fay Wray passed away not that long ago, she was in her mid 90's, i only learnt that she wore a blonde wig in King Kong (1933) then & she was a brunette, yep Fay was more attractive, Thelma had a high pitched (unless it was an act) voice, i thought Hillary Brooke was even more attractive

1941
West Cinemas
Hindley Street

Movie : North West Mounted Police
The main star was the immeasurable Gary Cooper

GARY COOPER
Gary Cooper was a big big star in the embryonic days of talking movies
My favorite Cooper movie was Meet John Doe , where he portrayed a reluctant fictitous hero.
He was brilliant in this film, he just had the look and demeanour for this part

Gary Cooper legend of the screen
He was even mentioned in a version of the song Puttin on the Ritz , by Taco
" Dressed up like a million dollar trooper
Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper , super dooper."

ALAN LADD
On this day 3/9/64 Alan Ladd passed away
There is some irony of this
I reckon Alan Ladd and Gary Cooper are lookalikes , just my opinion ,they could pass as brothers
Not seen that many Ladd movies, the one that I liked him in was the classic western Shane

One of my favorites was Faye Dunaway in the movie 'Bonney and Clyde'. Woof Very Happy

I'm surprised she's not even listed in the top 20.

FAYE DUNAWAY
Bonny and Clyde Movie was a very good movie
Faye Dunaway , is one heeluva woman
Not only is she a stunning looker, but she is a classy actress as well
I don't reckon she has aged  as well as she should have, but as a young lass she was an absolute stunner
She actually scrubs up well in black and white shoots
Liked her performance in the Thomas Crown Affair movie

WARREN BEATTY
Superb actor

The movie Shampoo suited him , when playing a hairdressing playboy
Julie Christie was hot as usual , and I reckon Warren would have cracked a hawn with the other female lead !

Best movie I've seen Beatty in was Heaven Can Wait
I reckon ive seen it a dozen times, and could watch that moovie a dozen more
The lucky barstad got to touch, hold, and kiss Julie Christie

KARL MALDEN
All Fall down was a 1962 movie and one of Warrens first movies
He played a brash young hood in that movie
In that movie was Karl Malden , who seemed to play in a 1000 movies
If looks could kill, Karl had that look ,and that snozza !

In that movie All Fall Down, Karl produced this line
He was taking to either the wild Beatty  or the gullible Brandon De Wilde
" Have you seen Herbie ?
" Herbie who.?
" Her behind."
Then followed a Malden raucous laughter

FIRST BLOOD
Bonnie and Clyde
What was better the movie or that classic song by Georgie Fame ?
