2012 SA Football Hall of Fame

Tuesday night is the SA Football Hall of Fame.

Talking Footy SA will have someone in attendance and they'll give a report on Wednesday.

Just got home and reading the local paper - Eastern Courier - and there is an article stating Garry McIntosh will be inducted into the SA Football Hall Of Fame this evening, down at AAMI.

Congratulations to the Norwood legend and all other inductees throughout the night...

Channel 7 will be doing regular crosses this evening to make mention of the Inductees...

And Talking Footy SA will be in attendance for what should be a great night.

Kevin Duggan and Ben Hart the first members to be inducted into the hall of fame.

I made the assumption we would have a update regulary from someone there .

It's OK mate , I thought I read that someone was there and was going to post hence my comment. It's fine seriously Phil , no need to edit your comment mate, all good.

i don't mean to sound negative but while champions why are W. Tredrea & B. Hart going into the SANFL HOF ? surely they belong in the AFL HOF given that they were AFL champions & didn't spend much time in the SANFL, granted Tredrea may've played in a premiership with Port but i doubt he or Ben played that many games to make the inclusion

well done to G. McIntosh who is an SANFL legend (who i used to give a bit of lip too )

No worries, but there was a need to edit my post because I forgot to add something to what I had originally posted, hence the edit.

It is the SA Hall of Fame, Bayman not the SANFL Hall of Fame hence why Hart, Tredrea and now Simon Goodwin have been inducted into it.

Yeah, I made that mistake as well in my post about McIntosh...

Perhaps Admin can change the thread title to read '2012 SA Football Hall of Fame' just to avoid further cofusion?

What a great night and a privilege to be there listening to so many greats of the game. Not only the inductees, but the presenters as well, from Barrie Robran to Neil Kerley and many others.

For those of us who have spent most of our lives barracking for our team from the outer, it was just a magic night.

We'll give more reports tomorrow, as promised, but it was nice to hear much of the talk concentrating on their early days at their local and countru clubs.

Plenty of fun from Gary McIntosh and several others.

A well run night and a treat for the footy follower.

I'd be more interested if it was an SANFL Hall of Fame. People like Tredrea, Hart, Goodwin, etc, whilst all top shelf players haven't contributed all that much to SANFL football, and to be honest, I'd like to see more recognition for people who keep the SANFL running, week in, year out.

I've started a poll and discussion on a new thread.

One thing I was surprised by is that in 17 seasons at Norwood McIntosh only won two B&Fs. I know he had some stiff competition but he's the type of player you'd think clubs would vote for more in their own B&F.
