Can the fifth placed double blues cement their spot in the top half of the competition

Pat Wilson to play on as the operation went well

Gone Abe Davis (possibly to West)

I believe Charlie Parker has returned from Western Bulldogs and has signed.

A bit pedantic but isn't 5th place already in the top half.

I just read your post again and missed the Wilson reference the first time.
Wilson is a key to Sturt's midfield success. Big mids are a rare breed.
But his shoulders are very suspect. Hopefully the op did go well, but I guess we will see how well as time goes on.

He and Lienert (now cut by St Kilds) are in the same boat to some degree.
Their footy careers have been patchy, largely due to their fringe roles on afl lists. In Wilson's case injuries haven't helped, but as both near 30, I bet they wouldn't mind one season (wherever it is) playing with the same blokes for 20 weeks.

Whether Lienert comes back probably depends on his ability to find a teaching job here or whether another afl club offers him another lifeline.

Lienert would be a great get. I rate him. In the right AFL club, he would dominate.

What did Abe Davis do at Sturt to go from “crowd favourite” to sacked? I note his name has even been removed from the 2022 player profiles.
Do the supporters deserve an explanation or is it the practice to say Abe who? Will West be the next club to welcome him? Goal kicking forwards are in short supply in the SANFL.
Maybe Norwood is his fit?

Abe was inconsistent. He would have a good day and then go missing.
Marty is big on defensive effort, and I gather it was felt this was not there.
Cam to a head late in the season when he was dropped and I think that is when the gate shut.

Whether there is more to it, I can't say. But my recollection is one of the South posters on here a while back, stating that there were some off field issues too when he was at Noarlunga.

Irrespective of whether he was at South or Sturt he would invariably kill North. In 2021 he kicked 5 goals in the last minor round match of the season and at Prospect this year he scored 4 goals in a side that was soundly beaten.

Allegedly was seen leaving a nightclub in the early hours on the Friday before the last minor round game & subsequently was sacked, there’s no doubt in my mind that had he played in the Elimination final then Sturt would have beaten us……this is not the same reason he “left” South…..have heard that he might be heading to Peacock Avenue

A talented player no doubt , but was toxic for the “team” at South. Told that his exit interview with Marty was in the car park … with clear message don’t come into the club you are no longer welcome . His brother was delisted from the Ravens. Any ideas where he might end up if not taken by another AFL club?

The talk is he is in love with a local lass and was going to stay in Perth regardless of his AFL status.

South and Norwood star forward, Norwood Premiership Coach, Langhorne Creek fast bowler, on the Sturt coaching Premiership panel and nice bloke Ben Warren is returning back to Sturt.
Ben will again be on the Sturt coaching panel and a very good signing
