Crowd Numbers
Crowd numbers at all games have deceased dramatically, Westies have collapsed.
930 against Adelaide at home, 1179 against North at home.
Looks like a big worry to me. I don't think Covid is a reason for it now, but I think the habit of going to the footy was broken during the lockdowns and people aren't bothering any more.
Thoughts?

Good post Lee. I tend to pick my games to go to even though I'm a season pass holder. I watch most games on C7 or digital P. If a game has the Crows playing after it I will stay home. I do have a distance to travel from TTG to Woodville so the decision is made easier. I haven't been to an away game since before the lockdowns.

What else is there to do on a Fri/Sat/Sun at whatever the time the league picks out ? After all, us supporters have nothing else to do in our lives but wait. (sarcasm)

Would be interesting to see digital pass numbers and tv numbers. If this down also, that is cause for concern. If those numbers are up, then there is scope to get the crowds back with some better programming. Like goddy, I have to travel a fair way and if Eagles are on back to back with Crows, I’ll usually just stay home and watch both on TV. Which has happened a lot this season.

A couple of thoughts. Certainly Saturday's gathering at Richmond was affected by the ridiculous 1:10 p.m. start.Lee wrote:Crowd numbers at all games have deceased dramatically, Westies have collapsed.

Some people still work on Saturday mornings, a lot more still shop on Saturday mornings and others have kids sport that don't finish until about midday. It is just too hard to get home, have a family lunch and then go to the footy.
One thing that did shock me was the number of Westies supporting friends who I caught up with after the game, who hadn't actually seen the game. They had spent their afternoon in the club, betting on the races and watching the game on their phones. Even though they were within 100 metres of the game, they weren't counted as having attended.
I guess had Westies been more competitive they would have wandered into the game.

Technology
Saturday afternoons
I have the following entertainments
SKY channel races all tracks in Australia
Internet betting
SANFL live stream
AFL games foxtel and C7
SANFL games on C7
With that happening , makes it very very hard for me to want to be at a Saturday afternoon SANFL match

Re: Crowd Numbers
As poor as the West vs North crowd was, it wasn't the smallest crowd of the day. South vs Eagles was smaller and that was second versus third. They only drew a crowd of 1152.Lee wrote:Crowd numbers at all games have deceased dramatically, Westies have collapsed.

It will be interesting to see this week's crowd figures with games played at a more sensible time and slightly better weather.
I know that Prospect had what seemed a reasonable crowd with quite a turnout of Central supporters.

He's probably got an aerosol spray for that and instead of carpet he's got astro-turf and a couple of goal posts to kick the empty cans through......I could go on.

I think that Lynx make a manly deodorant: Eau de Linamente. You can buy it in a discrete brown paper bag at Woolies.
