Retro Round - over to the fans.
With Round 18 being Retro Round, clubs using jumpers from past eras and commentary legend Dennis "DB" Browne celebrating his 50th year calling SANFL by joining the Life FM team this week - what other Blasts From The SANFL Past would you like to see?

Some crowds from the 1980s would be great.
Just working through which 80's tune will be my song of the week for SANFL ONE.
I am looking for my old Woodville cheer squad jacket to take to 1079 Life Studios for the day.

Re: Retro Round - over to the fans.
Blasts from th (distant) past, not necessarily what I would like to see.
15 Metre penalties.
"Go back and take your kick"
Each side had an 'enforcer'.
"The duel between playerX and player Y will be one to watch"
Kevin Hill always smashing Westies and invariably being dropped 2 weeks later.
Who was the Central player who always tagged Grantley Fielke?
Hoping the West game would be on 5KA, with Max Hall and Tom Warhurst.
'Smokies' from the bush being the next big thing.
Leaving Richmond Oval through the South Road gate in a huge crowd, buying a home made pie from the bloke with his hessian bag and tray and catching Henstrifges bus back to St Marys.
Screaming abuse at Lawrie Sweeney at West v Port games.
More to come.......

Nice to see on talking footy no South fans complaining about the jumper changes hurting south's chances of making the finals .

We must have walked out that gate at the same time and got on the same bus I reckon Lee, only as far as Edwardstown station though, for the train to Hove, and then the cold, dark and usually miserable walk home.

That Pie guy was a legend.
I remember him but not necessarily at Richmond.
Norwood Oval springs to mind.
Could he have covered 5 games in one day?
Or was there more than one pie guy?
They were great pasties however.

Since it is 80s retro round, how's about we see the free flowing footy that developed in that period.
I remember seeing highlights of the 83 and 84 seasons and the ball moved a hell of a lot faster than it does today.

Re: Retro Round - over to the fans.
Coming out of a self imposed exile for this
“The pie guy” (Pilko)
Still goes to every Alberton oval match, is located near the northern entrance around quarter time, the occasional Richmond oval match, was at the last one a fortnight ago, was told by a disgraced former ceo not to turn up but has since turned up every now & then, is at Morphettville every week & Globe Derby every Saturday night when the trots are on, with the bake house being near Richmond oval, he with the help of family did the western suburbs grounds, now it’s just the four mentioned.....back to being in exile

The Pie bloke was normally at Alberton and Richmond and was still there until very recently.
I don't ever remember him at Norwood. They had the pie cart nearby. He was also at the races and always at the trots, both at Wayville and then Globe Derby.
He never seemed to age.

Re: Retro Round - over to the fans.
- Going to a game and then watching it on The Big Replay afterwards
- Getting scores from other grounds on the scoreboard, with A, B, C etc
- Wearing your favorite player's number on your duffle coat (mine was "8 Aish") with player badges from the club
- A choice of radio coverage between 5AA, 5DN, 5AD, 5AN and others
- Buying The Football Times each week and putting the player posters from your club on the bedroom wall
- Recess and lunch at school kicking end to end and taking speccies as Peter Motley, Roger Luders, Neil Button or many others

Re: Retro Round - over to the fans.
I've tried to place a Retro Round Music Team, keeping in mind physical attributes, creativeness and aggression. (It makes no sense, I know):
F: Rick Wakeman Bryan Ferry Plastic Bertrand
HF: David Bowie Jim Morrison Iggy Pop
C: Robin Gibb Barry Gibb Maurice Gibb
HB: Brian Eno Roger Waters Billy Idol
B: Elton John Meatloaf Pete Townsend
R: Robert Plant Bruce Springsteen Leo Sayer
Res: Paul McCartney, Neil Young

HB: Brian Eno Roger Waters Billy Idol

Happy with Morrison at HF, even Bryan Ferry at FF, but Macca has to be in the centre and captain!
Is Roger Waters the enforcer of this side?
And where's Mick and Keefy?

Elton John next to Meatloaf and Pete Townsend should be an interesting combination

Need a forward that gets high
Suggest Joe Cocker

You could argue that about the whole side!

McCartney starts on the bench to shake the inevitable hard tag.
Mick and Keef are on suspension after positive drug tests.
