1/4 Time at Coopers Stadium:

GLG - 3.5 (23)

NWD - 0.4 (4)

Goal Kickers:

GLG - R.Kirkby, T.Milera, J.McKay 1

NWD -

Possessions:

GLG - C.Curran 8, B.Sawford 7, J.Sellar 6, L.Earl 5, J.Johansen 5, D.Reinbrecht 5

NWD - J.Cachia 9, L.Pascoe 8, A.Forster 7, M.Nunn 7, M.Panos 5

Glenelg started Max Proud in the ruck and James Sellar played CHB while the Legs had a couple of young key position payers in Lachlan Pascoe and Mitch Carter start in key position posts...

The visitors had the stronger start, kicking to the Parade end, dominating possession and inside fifty count. Norwood's defenders seemed indecisive and rushed into disposal...

Glenelg definitely looked the better side in the opening term...

Half Time at Coopers Stadium:

GLG - 6.6. (42)

NWD - 4.6 (30)

Tigers leading by 12 points

Goal Kickers:

GLG - C.Alleway 2, R.Kirkby, T.Milera, J.McKay, J.Scott 1

NWD - S.Phillips 1, L.Johnston, M.Panos, P.Persinos 1

Possessions:

GLG - M.Snook 15, J.Johansen 13, C.Curran 12, B.Sawford 12, L.Earl 10, T.Milera 10

NWD - J.Cachia 15, L.Pascoe 12, J.Donohue 10, M.Nunn 10, A.Forster 9, I.Hewson 9

Both sides had their moments in the second term with Norwood certainly lifting in intensity and using the ball better. Simon Phillips looks really dangerous and finding some nice space on a wing...

Former Carlton player Aaron Jospeh found himself reported for a clumsy strike on young Redleg Izac Hewson, with the following 10 minutes of play controlled by Norwood before a late Alleway control, against the flow of play...

Norwood certainly improved that term, but The Bays look to have some real improvement in them this year...

Final Scores Coopers Stadium:

GLG - 15.9 (99)

NWD - 12.10 (82)

Tigers win by 17 points

Goal Kickers:

GLG - C.Alleway 4, T.Milera 3, R.Kirkby, B.Nason 2, J.McKay, J.Scott, J.Haarsma 1

NWD - L.Johnston 5, S.Phillips 2, M.Panos, P.Persinos, A.Zeni, D.Ferreira, D.Denmead 1

Possessions:

GLG - C.Curran 24, B.Sawford 24, M.Snook 22, L.Earl 20, J.Sellar 19, H.Montgomery 15

NWD - J.Cachia 24, J.Donohue 19, M.Panos 17, L.Pascoe 17, I.Hewison 16

The Tigers drew first blood in the final term with Ben Sawford kicking a goal then Norwood answered back with a 4th to Johnston, before the ball went back down the other end for Alleway to nail his 4th...

Norwood came hard at the Tigers late in the final term, getting within a goal, but late goals to Haarsma and a second to Ben Nason saw the visitors extend their lead and record an impressive win...

Chris Curran and Terry Milera impressed for the visitors while the younger brigade from the Legs like Pascoe, Hewson and Nunn, before being injured, had some impressive moments...

Some good signs from both clubs, which is no doubt what both Ben Warren and Matty Lokan would be looking for...

Port beat West by lots. Port had 15 AFL players playing while West had at least 10 first choice players out.

West kicked the first 3. Port kicked 18 of the last 19.

General play wasn't that uneven, but Port's better skill level punished West's turnovers.

West only had 7 premiership players, but more notably they had 11 or 12 who had never

played league footy, so it was a pretty good effort.

Willits was excellent in ruck and Hardy played really well at full back.

WestRrserves won the first game comfortably.

Polec played the full game for Port.

It was a much better performance than last week, yes the odd fumble here & there & Norwoods' fist goal came from guess what, yep a wayward kick across goal but overall it was nowhere near the scrappiness of last week, i thought we 'won' the first & last quarters & Norwood the middle two, i thought although Miller won the taps for them we won the centre clearances with Snook performing well, our pressure on the ball player was very good, Sellar mopped up as the ''go to'' man in defence, Alleway competed as usual although he was rusty, but to put it into perspective i would suggest that we may've had 4 or 5 first pick players out & Norwood about double that, so yes there is improvement but would they beat Norwood when Norwood are at full strength ?

he was Ok, BP.

Will be better for the run, of course and be a handy addition.

Hard game to assess, given the strength of Port's side and the inexperience of West.

Seems like CD and WWT changed sides during that trial, as usually happens?

I was heading out there yesterday(being driven) but my adult kids forbade me in the weather I'm still getting there .
My understanding reading another forum
The scoreboard listed each of the three quarters as two different games .
And im not sure about the dogs but the Eagles didnt play of their top name players .
Which IMHO is the way to go after last years game in December at city mazda
I also read Gaffeny if ive spelt his name right played well in his first league game

The December game was at Thebby, micky, but there was another game later at City Mazda.

They didn't do either of us much harm, we finished 1 and 2.

Unfortunately Dillon Mullins sustained a broken leg in yesterday's trial at Noarlunga. He had a plate attached to his tibia in surgery this afternoon. Bad luck for the young man trying to cement a spot in Sturt's league team, after transferring from WWT.

Reserves Final Scores:

Norwood - 6.7 (43)

Eagles - 5.11 (41)

Eagles led most of the night, Norwood's go ahead goal was with about 1 minute to go...
