SANFL TOP 50 Empty SANFL TOP 50

Post by bomber14 Sun Aug 02, 2015 9:29 am

Saw on the SANFL website a few days ago an article by Zac Milbank about an SANFL Top 50 by the Footy Budget.
Only listed numbers 26-50 on the site, did anyone buy the Budget that has the full list?

From the website:

SANFL BUDGET’S TOP 50
By ZAC MILBANK | Twitter @zacmilbank

The SANFL Budget is set to name the best 50 players in the IGA League competition.

After several weeks of consultation and consideration, the much-anticipated list will appear in the Round 16 edition of the SANFL Budget.

But to whet the appetite, the SANFL website has listed those ranked between 26 and 50 below, giving you the chance to predict who will be in the top 25 this weekend.

At No.26, triple Norwood premiership defender Jace Bode is among a cluster of the competition’s best backmen with Redlegs captain Alex Georgiou (No.29) and Eagles skipper Luke Thompson (No.30).

Arguably this year’s best recruit in the SANFL, Central midfielder Chris Jansen, comes in at No.38 after setting the competition alight with his ball-winning ability.

West Adelaide goalsneaks Aaron Fielke (No.46), Shannon Green (No.41) and goalkicking midfielder Kaine Stevens (No.48) are littered throughout the 40s while Norwood swingman Michael Chippendale rounds out the list at No.50.

Two of the SANFL’s most improved players – West midfielder Josh Schiller and Eagles ruckman Marc Borholm – headline the list of honourable mentions.

To find out who is ranked No.1 to No.25, make sure you buy a copy of the Round 16 SANFL Budget for just $3 at all five venues hosting matches for ‘’Super Saturday’’ on August 1.

Pretty good effort, IMO.

Good to see Jonno Beech at 6.

There are a lot of West players, but I'm surprised Travis Tuck doesn't even get an honourable mention.

Looking ahead to a 'Team of the Year', there are three outstanding candidates for a small forward - Lachie Mcgregor, who started brilliantly and Aaron Firlke and Shannon Green.

Green had the fewest disposals for West on Saturday, 9. 3 goals and two direct goal assists, though.

Who would you have as number 1, if you were putting the list together, The Hatchet?

It was done by Patrick Keam, the editor of the Football Budget, but I'd suspect Zac Milbank from the SANFL would have had an input...

Agreed, think he still has a shot at AFL or is it too late?

Lots of West players, which is indicative of their season. Same as North with Motlop the only Rooster I can see featured

I think it might have passed him by, bomber, but he's a vastly better player than many on AFL lists.

Strongest hands I've seen at Westies for a player of his type and a very accurate shot at goal.

Wonderful player.

no issue with cross as the number one, was just interested in who put this together

Jason Porplyzia said on the RPH SANFL Show last Thursday night that he thinks Jono is still a chance to be AFL listed.

Fair enough. Like I say, I would suspect the Budget editor, in coordination with Zac Milbank...

I'll try and find out for sure, if you really want to know?
