The Bloods and the Blues once, and they are second.
The two Awful teams dominate, they have appeared more than the traditional SANFL teams, they are on again next week. Top versus ninth. What a joke, top versus ninth.

Norwood, North and West have been top 3 for the previous 2 seasons have had only 4 games between them, while South, Glenelg and Port and Port have had 14 between them despite being 3 of the 4 bottom sides the last 2 years.

Re: channel 7
And the SANFL are paying (Correct me if I'm wrong) Something like a million dollars over the length of the contract, for this AFL oriented rubbish. I recall that Sturt were offered coverage of our first game against the Crows, on the condition that we moved the game to start at midday. So that meant finish in mid afternoon, everybody goes home, no point opening the clubrooms for dinner, presentations etc. And Crows members pay nothing to get into the game. We'd have lost money on the day, so we politely declined it. Thus I assume we've been written off by Chanel 7, as uncooperative and not worth their while. Well hey guys, here's a dollar, call someone who cares. The SANFL signed up for this, so it's on their heads. At this stage it's looking like an expensive failure.

I cant comment how the C7 coverage is going
I've not seen any games as yet
Pre -season when I saw it was mostly all about the 2 AFL reserves teams I lost interest

The League haven't forked out the $1MIL from their own pockets, all the new sponsors (MAC, BankSA, RAA etc etc) have well and truly contributed to those costs.

To be fair though, at the start of the round it's top vs 7th. Besides Norwood vs South (4th vs 5th and they and ABC never do/did Friday night matches anyway) it virtually is match of the round. Other games 8th vs 2nd, 9th vs 3rd, 6th vs 10th.
Re: channel 7
If the SANFL had any balls it would have stipulated the match of the round.
Ch7 needed the SANFL more than the other way around.
Ch7 needs the money to survive.
The SANFL product will survive with or without Ch7

I don't think I am being unfair sapaul,
They were able to do Thursday, 4th April Norwood v Port at 740pm this year so why not Friday 18th July Norwood v South, the match of the round.

Re: channel 7
Thursday night to launch the season with no AFL on compared to a Friday night late in the season with AFL on. Big difference. ABC never did Friday nights either. Well not since about 1996 anyway.
There have been baffling decisions re other telecasts this year. Glenelg vs South instead of Sturt vs Norwood one week in particular. Glenelg vs South twice. Both Port vs Adelaide matches were always going to be shown, we all knew that from the start. Only televising one weekend in split rounds is the biggest annoyance for mine.

Re: channel 7
South and Glenelg twice, it wasn't for ratings, someone must have influence somewhere.

Interestingly next Sunday, they're doing West vs South and not Port vs Norwood.

From what I am aware, the 7 deal stipulated that each team would get at least 2 games...

Are negotiations proceeding that might see one of the old ABC footy commentators join the 7 coverage?
