Ah Booney, you're a smart bloke, and I certainly respect your opinions on all things footy, so much so that there's rarely cause to debate what you post because you're usually right on the money - but this time you are further off target than a Josh Jenkins set shot.

You would almost be the only person in Australia that thinks Betts has not been worth the money for Adelaide right now. You're obviously happy to take that position though no matter how silly it makes you look, so play on I guess.

I feel sick kind of defending the Crows, but $500k isn't excessive money in the current market. Carlton gave Bett's up but took Daisy Thomas for $700k   (although did well with Gibbs). James Frawley is reportedly needing $800k per season.

Crows fans might well be able to argue in the future that Bett's was a bargain at only $500k??

Perhaps it's me looking silly, perhaps it's the wider masses who seem to be overcome with euphoria at the mere mention of "Eddie".

Dont know if I would call $500K a bargain, but then again, I wouldn't give Daisy $700K or Gibbs $2.5 mill over 4 seasons either.

It's too soon to tell. But you've just highlighted what I'm trying to say. $500k is huge money by our standards, but not in modern day footy and you only have to look at those other examples as evidence.
