getting a game off the street

we've all heard the stories of past players including great players just turning up & asking for a chance to play footy etc......i remember the story of either L. Robson or the old ''Hot Dog'' Hodgson from West Torrens who do you remember ?


obviously it can't happen at AFL level but could it still happen at SANFL level ?

yeah saw that, but i mean a bloke who goes to a club & says ''i'd like to have a go please'' that can not happen at AFL level........................there was a 'famous' VFL player who got a game ''off the street'' i think it was Essendon but not completely sure on that or who it was for that matter now as the memory isn't great   

Podsiadly would be as close as it comes in the AFL I reckon.
Wasn't he about 28 or 29 when he was drafted from their ressies?
Not sure how long he had been at the club to that stage.

But I thought he had some development role at Geelong as his main thing there.
