Final Five or Final Four?
Final Five or Four?
South made the five last year with more losses than wins.
It might happen again this year.
Are you in favour of a final five or final four?

I've held the belief we should have a final 4 ever since we reverted to a 9 team competition.

South also rolled Glenelg then lost to the side the following week that won the Premiership!
Final Five is my vote, with a tenth SANFL side added to the competition.

final 5 for me it seems to work much better that the final 4 we briefly had a few years ago, although they did it incorrectly (imho) if your going to have a final 4 then it should be a 3 week final series with the top 2 getting the double chance unlike last time when it was strung out over 4 weeks......
week 1, 1st semi final 3rd v 4th (winner to preliminary final, loser is out)
2nd semi final 1st v 2nd (winner to grand final & loser to preliminary final)
week 2, preliminary final
week 3, grand final
week 1, 1st semi final 3rd v 4th (winner to preliminary final, loser is out)
2nd semi final 1st v 2nd (winner to grand final & loser to preliminary final)
week 2, preliminary final
week 3, grand final

Final 5....let fate happen (like Norwood in 1984).
Keeps it more interesting

It is odd to have more teams play finals than not, but the final five format is good, it keeps interest in the comp going for longer, and the possibility of a team winning it from 5th is worth preserving.

I’d be quite happy with either, but feel a final 4 is right for an 8 team competition and a final 5 is the way to go with 10 teams.
To me, a 9 team league is neither your @rse nor your elbow.

I’d really like to see us return to a 10 club league. That way we keep the final 5 and by losing the crazy salary cap, we can keep more players out of the bloody un-AFL. Best of all, we get rid of the stupid flamin’ bye and have every team play every other team twice, home & away. A nice, simple, fairer and slightly shorter season, that allows time for a break after the Grand Final. This means State players can freshen up and be ‘cherry ripe’ for State representation or any other organised fixtures, without being placed at risk of injury mid-year.
The K.I.S.S. principle works for me. Or am I just simple minded? Don’t answer that !!!
