North v Panthers at Prospect
The Panthers with a tough task to avoid being 0 and 2.
Let's see what North have to offer.

North have a pretty good record at home against the Panthers. Should kick the season off with a win.

In all honesty .... I'm a little worried about south. I know it's only been ond game into the season but I don't know .... Something don't feel right.
If we drop this game I think the index finger will be placed on the "panic" button!!!
Wundke out for 4 weeks ain't going to help our case so it's up to the others to step up !!!
I'm going out to prospect but don't feel real confident about it.

I was very impressed by DeVisser in the Reserves game.
I'd be fairly sure he'll play league this week.
Maybe also Miller?

Yep hope both those boys get a look in.
Couple in the league that might need to have a go at the reserves this week to think about the last half last week.

South have to win this if they are to be taken seriously in 2012, start the season at 2-0 and its a strong chance of ending just like every other season since 1964...
South have broken through and beaten North at Prospect last season and I am confident we can and will this week also!

"Panic Button" talk already! Who do the Panthers have pencilled in to take over from Ron, Southee? Sounds like the natives are getting restless...
I think the Panthers will bounce back and win by 3 goals.

The absence of Wundke could be a telling factor in this game. North couldn't play much worse than they did last season, and I think they'll get up by 17 points.

Both teams could be lacking fire power up forward. If South react to last weeks roll over the way their coach expects then they will come out all guns blazing. North are making a habit of not turning up until the 2nd qtr so this match might even have a look of South's last game.
North to come from behind to win by 7 points in a close one

MATCH PREVIEW:
The Roosters hope to get their 2012 year of to a flying start on Saturday at Prospect Oval with a good win over the Panthers. South looks a little vulnerable without Michael Wundke up forward and a loss of some key players over summer. Their second half wilting last Saturday night on their fortress at Noarlunga will raise concerns, and you can expect them to come out strongly. They have some good midfielders, especially with Liddle and Stribling, and although the latter gets a lot of possessions, his efficiency is questionable.
North has the personnel this year to climb the ladder, and potentially may have up to 5 AFL players in the 21 – Craig, Johnston, Blee, Young and possibly Wright. Moore may also be included, but in this writer’s opinion, is still a Reserves player, as he wastes the ball so much.
The Rooster midfield is as strong as any going around with Allan, Thiele, Bennett, Ryswyk, Thring, Delvins, Handby and newcomer Clinch getting plenty of the ball. It is unlikely that Boras will front up after jagging his hammy 2 weeks ago, so Alleway will be crucial up forward with the front and centre players feeding off any loose balls to score, and Backwell may still be another week away after his knee surgery. The Roosters’ rucks of Craig and Currie should give those players first look at the ball.
The Rooster defence looks much stronger with ex-Magpie newcomer, Hall, slotting well into full back and giving plenty of run from the last line, and with Blee and Johnston likely to fill key positions. When Miles returns, he could be a surprise go-to forward, or fill a slot in defence allowing Johnston to go forward.
With an almost full complement of players to choose from, coach Francou may have trouble finding the right mix for his final 21, and there will be some disappointed players rising early for a start in the Reserves.
On their home ground, with their usual fanatical and loyal supporters, the Roosters should start their season with a win by 31-40 points, and possibly more if they can maintain their concentration for the whole game.

Not sure where you got your info from BEN W but South have not beaten North at Prospect since 2005 if my memory serves me correctly.

Re: North v Panthers at Prospect
After an ordinary first quarter by South a clearly livid Coach Fuller read the riot act at quarter time which saw the Panthers lift their work rate to match Norths in the middle quarters.North looked as though they were gaining the acendacy in the 3rd quarter and went to the break 3 goals in front with the wind at their backs in the last quarter.
A really great effort in the last quarter where South kicked 6 goals into the breeze after Cross and Liddle got on top in the middle.
Ainger was the best forward on the ground and finished with 7 goals.Mckernan also looked dangerous at times, but Souths forwards second and third efforts were so much better than last weeks poor showing.
A really great win which shows what persistence can do.Plenty of players to return from injury in the coming weeks, so things looking alright for the Panthers on 2012.

Re: North v Panthers at Prospect
Fantastic day for us South supporters.
Its been a long time coming since we won at Prospect and to see South come from behind (think we were 16 points down @ 3/4 time ??) and win it in the last 1/4 was most pleasing.
Ainger kicking 7 goals is exactly what we have been looking for from this guy!! Amazing game and strong marking. Great to see.
Loved McKernan in the side as it gives us a target and seeing him back in our side makes a huge difference.
Liddle played well and had a good battle with the North onballers. Stribling playing his old side really showed what a 'Class" act he is.
Thought our defence in the last 1/4 held up very well when the pressure was on with North going into their forward 50m. Crabb, Thewlis (will get better with more games under his belt) etc...
One thing North lacked was the word "discipline" in the last 1/4. When the pressure was on them they were more interested in playing the man and doing some off the ball type stuff. Totally lost the game for them. I also think South were more "fitter" than North and seemed to run out the game. (it would have been warm out there).
A great win but now the focus is on Sturt for the Good Friday clash.....Bring on Friday!!!! (See you there Clarrie )
