Re: S.A.N.F.L Recruits
MICK NUNAN [Sturt/Richmond/Norwood/North Adelaide]
There are 3 enduring memories I have etched in my mind , of the times , when Mick Nunan played in the SANFL
Robert Oatey, Barrie Robran and Mick Nunans handballing
I consider Oatey and Nunan as the handball kings
Both could rack up enormous handball stats in a course of a game
Those handballs would nearly always go to the advantage of a team mate
As for Barrie Robran this is perhaps the greatest of all handball memories
This didnt happen once, it happened a few times that I saw
Robran would take a high mark
On landing towards earth , and some where between mid air and landing , would handball to a team mate running past him
1996
Fitzroy V Fremantle
FITZ....5-3...8-3...13-7...16-11
FREM...2-1...3-5...4-10...10-16
Mick Nunan coached Fitzroy in 1996
This was the only match Fitzroy won in 1996
So Mick Nunan is the last coach to have coached a Fitzroy win

I think I have read that book Chambo, although the memory isn't great. That's an interesting take on Jack from that game, wasn't aware of such a school of thought.

WAYNE PHILLIS [Glenelg/Norwood]
Both started at Glenelg and ended up at Norwood
Both played 38 games each for Norwood
Both won Premierships with Norwood
In 1997 Jim West won the Ken Farmer Medal
He also played a game against his former SANFL club late in 1997
It was played at Glenelg Oval
The result
GLENELG....6-3
JIM WEST...8-1

ROYCE HART [Richmond/ Glenelg/Richmond]
In 1969 man landed on the moon with Apollo 11
In 1969 Royce Hart landed on the Adelaide Oval with concussion
Royce only played 1 game for Glenelg in the 1969 Grand Final loss to Sturt
Its a good trick question , that I have used
Who is the best player to wear a Glenelg guernsey ?
agree with rr.....in my time it is Stephen for sure, my dad reckons Neil Davies was an awesome footballer & is in the trifecta with the best players for Glenelg he has seen, i can't remember the other one at the moment.....i know Scrappy loves those quirky facts like the Royce Hart one & i'm not saying he was a dud as obviously he wasn't but it is just another case of the inferiority complex that people have with things either interstate or overseas
FWIW
Peter Carey has stated on radio today that Stephen Kernahan is the best footballer he has seen at Glenelg
