By "failed", how are we measuring that? Some players have come here and played okay, just not up to expectations.
One I recall was Syd Jackson, another is Mark Buckley.

"Tim Deacon" came to South as the VFL's leading goalkicker and found it pretty tough going as I recall!

John Ronaldson, dual premiership ruckman from Richmond. Came to South Adelaide and didn't do a lot for memory.

South Adelaide had a pretty fair number of ex-AFL players in the early to mid 2000's that had some varied results, to be kind.

Mark Buckley to Norwood from Carlton via St.Kilda and Brisbane. Started well but completely slackened off, only 8 games & 6 goals in 2 seasons.

HASSELL and TURVEY instead of the Gowans Bros...........
would have to go down as perhaps the worst decision ever made by the safc.- and there have been some doosies.
Story I heard was that Hassell was being flown over to play for South every week...apparently one week South were playing at Woodville ,and he arrived at the Adelaide airport without any money for a taxi so he walked to Woodville Oval, upon arriving he realised hed left his boots in Melbourne...WTF!!
