Surveys
You see them in the papers, on the screen , on the net
Surveys that are unique, almost beyond belief , at times mind boggling

The question is are they believable or bull ?

DEMENTIA
There is a claim from the Oxon Epidemiology in London that being underweight in middle age could increase the risk of dementia
The group studied GP records over a period of about 2 decades to come up with this 'prognosis'

The article also states
* Those who weigh too little are more likely to be diagnosed with with diseases such as Alzheimers than those of a healthy weight , a study shows.
Surprisingly the risk for obese people is 30 % lower than those of a healthy weight.*

To all fellow fatsos , at last some good news !
Not only do we look like elephants , we will have the memory of an elephant !
As for the study, who knows if its believable or bull

IN MEMORY OF BEER

More good news , this time drinking beer to protect our brain cells !
This research is in the Journal Of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
They suggest that regular beer drinkers may be better able to ward off neurological diseases

Lab experiments say that a chemical called Xanthohumol could help protect brain cells from damage associated with conditions like Alzheimers and Parkinsons

Scientists have discovered a chemical in hops , which they claim might slow down the dementia process
So hop to it !

So there we have it , to be of sound mind as well get older we must eat well , put on weight and drink beer
If thats the case The Emperor and Booney will live a long life

BEERY GOOD NEWS

National institute Of Public Health in Denmark
There was study involving 12000 men and women over 20 years

* The lowest risk of FATal heart disease occurred among  those who drank moderately and exercised
Up to 50% reduced risk !
This compared to non drinkers who dont exercise

The best part about the drinking in moderation is that you can have between 2-4 alcoholic drinks per day
They do stress you must exercise as well as groging on

Is anyone convinced about this survey ?
Can you LIVEr longer drinking this much on a daily basis with exercise ?

TV ROTS YOUR BRAIN ?
Heres one from the University of California
Tests done to measure thinking skills
3000 adults
25 years of testing
Starting age 18-30
So by the end the youngest would be 43 the oldest 55

Test results at the end of the study showed :
Those who watched more than 3 hours of TV a day and were inactive , were twice as likely to fall into an assessment of poor cognitive performance

Scientists discovered that watching TV as a teenager affects middle age brain power

I would have thought differently
I find TV to be stimulating and educational
At times it takes my mind off every day stresses
I would be lost without my TV

4/12/1993
On this day
Bill Clinton , the American prez asked for Hollywood to cut back on TV and movie violence
He stated that it was having a bad influence on American youth

This was performed by scientists working at he Coventry University

6800 people
50-89 years olds

The results of extra rooting =
Having sex later in life assists in stopping Dementia
People had better cognitive functions
Able to recall lists better
Able to recognise patterns better

It is believed that sex releases dopamine ,a feel good brain reaction

DUMB AND DUMBER

Study author and research scientist Jay Sagorsky
10,878 Americans were tested in various stages

An IQ test was done on blondes, brunettes and red heads
The IQ determinations were :
100.5 black hair
101.2 red hair
103.2 blonde hair

Blondes scored the highest IQ
Should we now consider cracking brunette jokes ?

MEDITATION

This from researcher and neuroscientist Dr Gaser at Jena University Hospital in Germany

This is about brain preservation
50 meditators and 50 non meditators were used

Scanned Computer results showed :
Meditating on a regular basis can knock of 7.5 years off a middle aged brain
It is believed that concentration and relaxation might produce new brain cells

Reslts showed a person with a 50 year old brain , who meditated regularly had the brain of a person aged 42 or 43
If true meditation could offset Alzheimers and other brain disorders

Hopefully I have con densed this accurately

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE

This is by a US Doctor Brian Steixner
Who is involved with the Institute for Mens Health in the U.S.

" Your nether regions need to be just the right  temperature to optimise sperm production."

The solution is to sleep naked
