Being a bit bored I just checked out a few club Forums, and must admit a possible West lineup someone had written up was a lot better on paper than I'd realised. No wonder you're optimistic Lee. Would have a good young depth too I'd imagine given their 18's flag last year.

Yes, Scrunch, I'm hopeful. The addition of Porplyzia, Willits and Helbig helps and much will depend on how quickly our youngsters adapt to League football.

Although we lost several good players, nearly all of them were getting towards the end of their careers or were slowing up somewhat.

The injection of youth has given us some speed and skill, but the Eagles side looks very good and we always find Woodville Oval difficult, so Saturday will be tough.

Perhaps a new era to look forward to for Westies fans.

I was quietly seething when you had North to finish bottom and thought you were full of it, but hindsight suggests I was completely wrong. Hats off to you...

Its okay KR, I am still seething mad about 1991 but there you go! Smile

I suspect North will string some wins together once they get the right group on the park, having players coming back in from injury will likely be the shot in the arm they need. New coaching staff, new playing group is always going to take a while to gel together.

For my own selections it seems I overrated Glenelg and under rated WWT. I suspect the problem with the coaching scenario at Glenelg has not helped matters there, yet on paper their list looks pretty good. As for WWT they continue their form of being in the five and being competitive, clealry this is not the year that is going to change!

I think I counted 12 first choice players missing for North at the moment. They're doing well to field a Reserves team with those numbers. But, as West found out last year, an 18-game season makes it that much harder to recover from bad patches like this.
Another reason for my opposition to the AFL Reserves teams is that we now only have 14 games against 'genuine' (for want of a better word) SANFL teams, where previously we had 20.

I've had this bet with PhilH (for an Eagles membership) in seasons'past and let's say I've been an Eagles Member and PhilH has been a Dogs member...

Happy to have a bit of fun and assist other clubs' Membership numbers...

Not looking good for me, at this stage, agreed, but still another 12 weeks to go. We'll have to wait and see...

The team I cant work out with any certainty is Adelaide Reserves
North Adelaide with players back from injury could be the BIG improver late season

As for the Premier
there is no doubt if the finals were played now that the Eagles would be the ones to beat
Norwood are a show as they have belief
Port Reserves if they play at their best are a hope
West can still get a double chance , so in the equation
South and Sturt are now likely to have to win 4 finals matches, which looks beyond them
