I went to a game at Norwood Oval in about 1962/3/4?.

West v Hawthorn.

Does anyone have any details?

I was given some old SANFL budgets from 1967 for Xmas, and one of them looks back at the 1955 season. This is a quote:

"An overflow crowd saw the Victorian premiers, Melbourne, defeat Port Adelaide by a point in a thrilling night game at Norwood Oval five days after the S.A. grand final.
A week earlier Hawthorn had scored a point win over West Adelaide under lights.
The following week, however, a combined S.A. side convincingly defeated Collingwood at Norwood."

Coincidence, I think, as it was the first time I'd seen Colin Thompson, so it would have to have been about the time I suggested.

Do you have any record of any night games played by West in the early 60's, against an interstate side?

From 1920 - (I have records before this but need to do more work on them)

In 1920, we played TFL and NTFL - (I need to get the exact date for that game)
We defeated Queensland and NSW 10th and 17th sep 1921
We played and defeated Goldfields Comb in Kalgoorlie 1922
We defeated East Perth at Adelaide Oval 1922
Perth defeated us at Adelaide OVal 1924
Collingwood defeated us at Wayville Oval 1927
We played and defeated a combined RMFL side 8-6-1952


Then we jump to 1977 with the NFL Series (Like todays Foxtel Cup)
We lost top EF, 78 we lost to Perth, 1980 we lost to S-Melb, 1981 lost to S-Melb, 1983 we played Collingwood in a trial at Richmond Oval Preseason, 1984 we lost to Footscray at Footy Pk, 2011 we beat Aisnlie and lost to Williamstown and finally Claremont thrashed us in 2012 at Subi.

There may be other games I havent entered?
