What was the circumstances behind Hartfield crossing from Norwood to Glenelg? I've started to do the 1982 season round by round (only part way into it)
Norwood:
Rd 3: 9 goals 1 behinds
Rd 5: 3.3
Rd 6: 5.3
Rd 7: 2.3

Not a bad return for four matches (19.7), but then he was at Glenelg for Round 9.

I can't recall all the circumstances but he had some talent, but never stayed in one place for very long. Claremont-North Adelaide-Norwood-Glenelg, all in the space of a few seasons.

Don't know if this is the oficial answer but he wasn't the kind of "hard at the ball" style of player Balmey was looking for, so he was dropped to the reserves for a couple of games (kicked 6 goals in those 2 games), chucked the sads and applied for a clearance to Glenelg.

I just can't recall the exact circumstances, I have a feeling he complained about not being in the league team so he was told he could leave if he wanted to. Can find out if you really want me to.

1986 - Des O'Dwyer & James Fantasia cleared mid-season from Norwood to Woodville.
1974 - Rod Pope & Greg Nicholson cleared mid-season from West Adelaide to Woodville

In 1978, Wayne Phillis was cleared mid-season from Glenelg to Norwood, and Mike Nunan from Sturt to Norwood, but neither of them had played for their previous clubs that season.

If you want to find out, go ahead, but that gives me a good idea from what you have said, so thanks for that.

And O'Dwyer and Fantasia I will put on a footnote as they did not play for Norwoods League side during 1986, but as you said, were transferred.

Peter Roberts cleared from Norwood to West Torrens in 1977.
