One or two clubs have a lower cap.
I thought two clubs had a higher than the rest cap

Lee I can't quote on my phone . I'm taking those clubs on lower did something wrong like go over the cap and were caught
Or whatever reason why then have a discussion claiming one team is over the cap when they aren't

Those clubs not paying out the total salary cap have to my understanding been advised too given their respective financial problems......Mickyj, you read too much into what people say when the Eagles gets mentioned & therefore get ultra defensive on it, they are a good club & get well coached on field but at some stage they like anyone else will make mistakes, even I make mistakes & plenty of them

No, they've done nothing wrong and weren't over the cap, micky.

Mate, it does bother you or you wouldn’t be bothered answering, I love your passion for your club & defending it but sometimes you read way too much into what was posted in the first place

Re: Club Financials
From the Eagles Annual Report:
The Football Club ended the year with a deficit of $34,109. This result was however the first year that only an amount of $300,000 was transferred from the Licensed Clubs to the Football Club. In previous years an amount of $616,500 had been transferred. This means that the football department has reduced their spending by almost $300,000 in 2017. A huge thanks must go to Luke Powell, Michael Godden, Darren Hams and the football staff in continuing to have on-field success with drastically reduced expenditure
Just because Eagles have a cap of 430K doesn't mean they spend it...with further player losses this year it will be lower again

Re: Club Financials
After what we have seen on the television lately about councils gifting lately, the mayor should not complain what 53 players get paid. Her CEO probably gets that on his own. Onkaparinga's council gifting to itself could have sustained a lot of sporting clubs out that way.blueandwhite wrote:I read with interest in the Messenger the news that the Eagles are concerned at their electricity bill is becoming too excessive. To help alleviate this they have approached it seems, a sympathetic local council, for a reduction in rent to help them out. Full credit to the Eagles on this, it must be nice to have your local council help out when it can.
However , I also read with interest that the local Mayor who had clearly looked over the Eagles Financials in deliberating over this request mentioned that the Eagles should reduce their spending on players to help with their plight.
" Mayor Angela Evans backed cutting the club’s costs but criticised the fact that the club spent $430,000 on 53 Eagles players.
“I actually don’t think that Woodville West Torrens Football Club is poor, not when it is paying up to $430,000 across 53 players,” Ms Evans said.
I had to read this three times, to make sure I wasnt seeing things......Discuss..
