Good concept & well done to the SANFL for following it through.
The idea was first promoted by John Kantilaftas when he was CEO at West & he then approached the Eagles to participate.

Re: SANFL Fast Footy
Part of me questions why we need to come up with a 'Twenty20' version of our game when our game already lasts a comparable timeframe to a T20 match. Having said that, we've seen Rugby 7's work well for rugby so why not give this a go.
I also think the Fast Footy is a much better concept than AFLX as Fast Footy is still played on an oval.
I assume all 8 SANFL teams will be involved in this.

overall a very good concept, however two things immediately comes to mind & this one worries me a bit & that is what the hardness of the ground are like that they use as any ground at that time of the year are generally rock hard................................perhaps they can do what they do in hockey, that being they water the pitch....the second one is it reminds me of the old lightning carnival days i'm sure most of us were involved in, at school footy

It's only being played at The Parade and with no baseball there this summer, it's looking a lush, picture perfect (soft under foot) playing arena.

That’s now what about then ? Could be rock hard, as I said great concept but perhaps too early or do they do what they do in hockey pre game?

They played a lot of women's footy at The Parade around the same time last year, so the ground will be fine.bayman wrote:That’s now what about then ? Could be rock hard, as I said great concept but perhaps too early or do they do what they do in hockey pre game?

Ok, only making a point & without proper watering it could be too hard, that is the point I was trying to make....im sure if a couple of players from Central went down with long term injuries would you be saying the same ???
Personally I hope every player from every club gets through unscathed

Of course, but I don't think there will be a problem, at all.
Plus, it has proper watering and no doubt they will be conscious of all this and ensure it is pristine.

It will also be the home of the Crows AFLW team for next season.

No problem in that case as the afl will pour (pun intended) enough money to have it spot on

Re: SANFL Fast Footy
It's crap IMO, why do the Crows only turn up on the second day and play 2 games while every other club has to do one game on the Friday night and roll up again the next day.?

Smart move by Central.....there could be a place for it & the concept is good especially as an entertainment spectacle, but to me it is too early & as mentioned earlier the risk of injury has to be higher than later in the year when the ground would be “softer” so to speak
I’d love to know BP’s thoughts on Central declining the invitation, given his views earlier on.....so your thoughts BP are ???

Port and Crows need the prize money.

Part of me sees this as short-sighted from Centrals, especially with $10k for the winner and they're the only club not in it. Having said that, they've had the foresight in the past to see the Foxtel Cup as a failure, and the detrimental effect the AFL Reserves sides had on the competition.
The cynic in me thinks this is a response to being declined a women's licence

This is not a new concept. A similar competition was played at the Wayville Showgrounds in 1994. It was promoted as a lightning carnival and may have been 9 a side. North won the competition because they played a very, very small team which ran rings around the opposition. Brett Mancini captained the North side and that is about all I remember of that competition.
It was held in about February.

Re: SANFL Fast Footy
This is going to be difficult for some on the 2n'd day...from what iv'e been told, after all the games played, as it looks like a premiership type table with percentage is being used, there may be clubs who played early on the 2nd day that will have to wait hours (up to 5 hours for the early gamers) to find out if they made the finals.
