Team of the Year
OK, who gets in your Team of the Year?
I'll start off with some contenders, add your own:
Small forwards: McGregor, Fielke, Green.
Full Forward: Alleway in front of Podsiadly and Wundke and Eddy?
Other forward: Eddy
CHF: Ainger
Key defenders Hartlett, Keough, Levicki, Von Bertouch,
Other defenders:
Ruck: Baulderstone, Kurtze, O'Brien,
Midfielders: Lots:
Summerton, Sawford, Rowntree, Cross, J, T and J Schiller, Stevens, Porplyzia, Schmidt, Thomas, ets, etc....
Top of the head, add the obvious others or name a side.

Re: Team of the Year
Not sure a guy playing 2's (Sawford) can be in a team of the year?
Definately add Caleb Edmead to the small forward list, for mine...

Fair enough about Sawford, Phil.
You can only play one or two small forwards and I think Edmead is well behind the other 3. How many games and goals for him?
My list was just to start things off.

"Well behind" is a tad far off, in my opinion, Lee...
He is CDFC's leading goal kicker, having kicked 28 goals 12 in 17 games...
He would be high up in the league amongst the stats for forward pressure acts and tackles...
IMHO, based on form over the last month, I'd personally have him ahead of McGregor and Green (too innacurate) and probably Fielke, as well...
But, it is all a matter of opinion, isn't it?
All players mentioned are good in a SF role...

Edmead's been the best small forward in the past month in my opinion as well, but
for a team of the year I think Green, Fielke and McGregor have had better bodies of work across the whole season

Phil, Green has kicked 42 goals and Fielke about 40. Green has only been inaccurate the last 2 weeks. His forward pressure has been excellent and he's played nearly every game. McGregor started better than any, but I think the 2 West boys have gone past him.
I know it's only opinion, but Caleb, while a huge improver, IS well behind the other 3, IMO.

Personally, I think "well" behind is a bit off the mark, Lee...
But hey, like you say, it is only opinion...

Re: Team of the Year
In terms of Sturt players, I don't think anyone other than Kirkwood or Kurtze has had a good enough year to be considered.
Beard hasn't been bad, but not as good as he was last year.
I also saw a few Bays games this year, was really impressed with Snook he definitely deserves to be in the team imo.

Snook had a great year for the Tigers and should easily win the Bays B&F award...
