South Adelaide are actually having Stephen Trigg as a guest speaker for a luncheon.. It concerns me that we have got to that point as a club where we are scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel to try and get speakers at the club. Worrying times ahead by the looks...

McDONALD’S SA U16 TEAM – FINAL SQUAD
By ZAC MILBANK | Twitter @zacmilbank
The McDonald’s SA Under-16 team is determined to atone for last year’s heartbreaking finish to the AFL National Championships.
Despite winning two of their three matches by a combined margin of 200 points, the Croweaters lost the title after succumbing to Victoria Country by just two points in the final match of the tournament.
As a result, SA Under-16 coach Darel Hart says his charges are primed for redemption once this year’s AFL National Championships begin on the Gold Coast on Friday.
‘’Sometimes the best team doesn’t win – full credit to the other team as they were able to close us down and block us off,’’ Hart said.
‘’So we want to redeem ourselves as the boys were exceptional last year.’’
Beginning with a rematch against Victoria Country at Metricon Stadium from 6.30pm on Friday, SA will be looking to get off to a positive start.
‘’It’s a different venue for the boys this year and you need to get off to a good start so that first game becomes very important,’’ Hart said.
‘’With only three games, if you can sneak away with a win first-up everyone is feeling good about themselves and away you go – it is a momentum thing.
‘’It’s not the be all and end all but if you can get away to a start it does help.’’
Hart will be looking for strong showings from captain Jack Graham and vice-captain Dakota Nixon while Ben Jarman, the son of Hawthorn and Adelaide great Darren, is poised to put his silky skills on display in Queensland.
‘’He’s a bit smaller than his dad but he will play in the midfield and up forward,’’ Hart said of the 16-year-old from North Adelaide.
‘’He’s very talented, has good vision and is a good kick. He is probably not as powerful as his dad was but he looks a really nice young player so I think he will do well.’’
Glenelg’s Jonty Scharenberg, the younger brother of Matt Scharenberg who was drafted by Collingwood last year, is also expected to have an influence.
‘’He’s a different type of player to Matt as he is not quite as tall but he is a very good player,’’ Hart said of the younger Scharenberg.
‘’He will play in the midfield for us. He’s a very steady player with good skills. His brother was more of a centre-half forward but Jonty is a nice size for a midfielder with pace and strength around the ball.’’

I like the way the jumper goes on height. There are some big boys at the end of list for under 16's - glad I don't ahve to pay to feed them.

Plenty of familiar surnames there from players of yesteryear. Wonder how many relations among them?

Do the people at Champion Data need an abacus? Stats from Friday night's game:
Beech: 19 kicks, 3 handballs = 23 disposals
Silverlock: 10 kicks, 7 handballs = 20 disposals
Hartlett: 9 kicks, 2 handballs = 12 disposals
Fielke: 5 kicks, 5 handballs = 11 dosposals
Hill: 5 kicks, 2 handballs = 9 disposals
Beech: 19 kicks, 3 handballs = 23 disposals
Silverlock: 10 kicks, 7 handballs = 20 disposals
Hartlett: 9 kicks, 2 handballs = 12 disposals

This is a regular occurrence, F9.
I wonder if they don't count some ineffective disposals in the kicks and handballs, or that there are some similar disposals not counted somehow.
The Champion Data people do a good job, but I will bet that each club's own stats people have more accurate figures
The biggest differential is in tackles, where it comes down to the interpretation of what is a tackle. I've known the difference there to often be 20 or 30, amazingly.
Champion Data also call by the number of the player, the club's stats people generally by player name and they are much more familiar with their own players.
I spent two years calling West's opposition stats for us. It's a hard job calling a team you only see twice a year and I sometimes found it difficult, but it was one of the most enjoyable jobs I've had at Westies.
Especially thanks to the great people on the Blood's stats team

Not a good situation here for anyone, whilst he has the right like anyone else to be treated as innocent until proven guilty, the police don't generally lay charges without having looked into it pretty carefully first. Have the Glenelg FC released a statement to the media yet?

I think if we infer that "there's no smoke without fire" we're not actually treating him as innocent until proven guilty.

Why is it reported by the Advertiser that he did not inform the club of the charges?

Because they are not charges until he is actually charged which wasn't until yesterday.Ben W wrote:Why is it reported by the Advertiser that he did not inform the club of the charges?
No idea if he told them about the allegations prior to being appointed coach.

i wasn't sure where to post this so i thought this will do, anyway i happened to be on a tram on the way home over the weekend after a few of us had a night out, anyway people were getting on & off & this guy caught my eye, he had his head shaved but had a mohawk, this mohawk was in colors which from memory was red, blue, green & yellow or something like that, anyway he noticed me having a look at him & said in a loud voice ''what are you looking at old man'' i replied ''i had sex with a parrot about 20 years ago & wondered if you were my son''
