Here's a thread for all the bits and pieces that might not need a new thread by themselves.
First, a picture of West's No 45, Tom Carter, in the Sunday Mail today. Unfortunately it's labelled West's Brad Mangan,
He was No 45 last year and is now back in Victoria.

Well it's about 9 or 10 days since the last SANFL minor round game was played and still the SANFL site premiership ladder shows that West has won 3 and lost 4 from 8 games played.

Interestingly an interstate player has been named to make his SANFL debut for two different clubs in the Reserves this weekend. One of them's going to be disappointed presumably.

Re: Random Topics
It's not Newell, BP, it's Matthew Schrek, a young player from Gippsland.
As for Newell. I think he shows a lot of promise. He's kicked 8 goals this year as a high forward and has some nice skills. He's not getting quite enough of the ball right now and needs to improve his defensive game a bit, but that's fairly common with an interstate player in their first SANFL year as they find their feet.
Really nice lad and has a good future at Westies, i think.

What a load of crap. If Victorian clubs counting past VFL flags isn't bad enough this is sheer idiocy. Is there no stopping these flogs.

While I think the idea of acknowledging pre-VFL flags for Victorian clubs is ridiculous, if they're going to do it for the Victorian sides, Port are equally entitled to ask for their SANFL flags to count.

Eddie would not be fond of that Idea.
If anyone can stuff up a good football concept, just leave it to a Victorian.

SANFL Press Release
Friday June 27, 2014
SANFL BEGINS SEARCH FOR NEW CEO
For the first time in more than 30 years, the SANFL has begun the search for a new CEO.
The SA Football Commission has initiated a recruitment process to succeed Leigh Whicker, who retires from the SANFL later this year.
Leigh joined the SANFL in 1981 and has been General Manager (CEO) since 1984 and Executive Commissioner since 1990.
“Through his long career with the SANFL, Leigh has been pivotal to its success,” Commission Chairman John Olsen said.
“Leigh has been a tireless champion for football in South Australia and we look forward to the opportunity to pay fitting tribute to him later this year as he prepares for the next stage of his life.
“Now, however, the Commission has begun the process to find his successor.”
Advertisements for the position will appear nationally from this Saturday (28th June) with applications closing on Friday 18th July.

My suggestion would be that the SANFL beat a path to Bucky Cunningham's door. He is a first class CEO and knows every aspect of the SANFL - AFL and I suspect its his ideas about how to bring the SANFL into increased attendance and exposure in the media that would actually work.
