Where do people get their news from?

Not sport, daily news.

Multiple answers OK.

Could have done with some of the on-line sources I think R&B.

I get The 'Tiser home delivered, mainly for the front 4 pages and the back 4 pages, reading the back 4 first. I do however take that "news" with a grain of salt.

I look at Ninemsn and the Herald Sun on-line for Australian coverage aloing with news.com.au

I never look at adelaidenow. The site is the worst news source on-line. Well, closely behind in-daily anyway. Wink

I look at the New York Post and independent.co.uk of a night time for US / British/European coverage.

I generally look at the ABC mobile app.
Has pretty much everything covered.

Sadly, I still read The Advertiser - largely because there's no real alternative for local news. I enjoy reading The Guardian online - I think if they decide to expand and take on more local news in each state they would put a serious dent in the Murdoch regime.

Another source of news I use is SBS 2's The Feed, which is a bit like an adult version of BTN.

I watch the Ch7 news, seems to me to be pretty good, 5AA during the day for News pieces, I am fastly turning off AA sports show, it is turning into real yobbo show. While Rucci is on the Sat morning sports show, I can easily find some music to tune into(1323) rather than listen to his one sided prattle.

I check out the sports forums for any new bits of info that is going around, some of it might be pie in the sky stuff, if you want to know about real footy not awfl footy then places like here are the go.

I flick through the Advertiser to see if I can find a decent article that hasn't got some bias towards the story, then finish up on the comics page and the crosswords etc.

There isn't much else, or is there?

I no longer buy the Advertiser, changed to a digital subscription, but about to scrub that.

I think now almost all of my media is on-line. I glance at The Australian rarely, just for a laugh, enjoy The Age (some really good sports and news writing amongst the dross), find The Guardian online an excellent source of news. I look at independent news websites a fair bit.

Subscribe to Crikey and read widely through links to stories that interest me that I find on Twitter.

I find TV news pretty shallow, so watch current affairs shows a fair bit.

Also read one or two international news sites now and again.

The Advertiser subscription has been a part of my day for many, many years now. I flip through it during the morning ritual of breakfast, getting kids ready etc.

I know it's limited, but as noted above, it's our only really local daily rag that I can have delivered (anywhere between 2-3am) for my morning read.

I catch ABC News 24 quite a bit in the latter part of the evening as well.

Rarely watch any of the FTA news 6pm services.

Just had a "Fetch" box installed with Optus, ads several Fox Channels which includes Fox Sports News, so I usually get a 30 minute loop from the top of the hour/half hour on there for sporting news.

To be completely honest, the amount of multi media options generating "news" in the modern day far outweighs the amount of information we all actually require.

I do a regular 'Adelaide Now' check throughout the day - and when possible watch Channel 7 nightly news.
Just lately I also find myself checking ABC online news too.

I also get a lot of 'news' from facebook - does that count  Cool

Triple J news on the way to work, Adelaidenow & ABC website throughout the day, 9 news in the evening.

I get the Sat Advertiser & the Sunday Mail delivered, just to have something to read over my lazy morning coffee on those days, but I've been considering cancelling them for a couple of months now. Lazy mornings are a thing of the past these days now I have a 2 year old and another on the way.

The only reason I keep them going is to support the local newsagent to be honest.

They obviously never watched Q&A. Very Happy

Whilst the majority of stories were found to be unbiased, sometimes what they don't report is as significant as what they do.

Take their recent allegations of torture from the Australian navy. There is no corroborating evidence apart from 2 testimonies from people with a vested interest. The video evidence has never appeared, people who "witnessed it" have changed their story and other say it never happened. Yet the ABC, to the best of my knowledge has never retracted it.

Fair point, UH, but they reported it as allegations, not fact and made a statement retracting it.

I see The Australian recently edited a reader's letter to make it fit their editorial position.

There have now been a number of ABC audits, by a wide variety of auditors, all of whom have found the ABC not to be biased.

I suppose we can all see bias, except for our own  Very Happy

7 news at night.

Fox Sports News and Sky News during the day.

Facebook during the day usually tells me anything I need to know, if something important is mentioned, I'll check on ninemsn  Rolling Eyes

Don't read the paper at all. Now footy is back I'll buy it on Monday and Friday for the footy liftout. If I remember to walk to the shops 200 metres down the road.  Rolling Eyes

When I'm working, alarm is set for 7.45am and that 15 minute news service on ABC radio at that time is always good.
