Not sure who was the better caller....Arnold Ewans at Wayville, back in the day, or Johnny Tapp at Harold Park. #HondoGratten

It will be an interesting comparism for Lee , that being ,  what was more exciting, when he went to Wayville Trots pre 1973 ,  or when he went to watch West Adelaide Wayville SANFL games between the world wars

Scrappy, I am seriously considering banning you for life Very Happy

Good old Arnold Ewens.

Johnny Tapp - great caller.

I only went to Harold Park once. Just happened to be the first start for a nice little horse called Paleface Adios.

Globe Derby started in 1969
Wayvilles last meeting was in 1973

What were the reasons from going from Wayville to Globe Derby ?

I think it was for a bigger track, Scrappy, and a dedicated H.Q. for the Trots. Of course, so much has changed since then with the "digital" era, etc.

Bigger track as agricultural society wouldn't make track bigger plus now the buildings in the way are heritage listed so that can never happen & the fact they didn't pay rent at gdp when they moved there, the difference between 1969 & 1973 is the lights weren't installed at gdp until 1973 (great year)

Please note all races at Wayville will be standing starts

Will all the trainers in SA support the Wayville project???
Should we expect a no-show from those that dont get in a car to travel???

Good call, actually this was mentioned at this mornings trials to whether it would get support from the trainers, some trainers don't even have a float these days & walk their horses across the road, one trainer in particular is notorious for not travelling at all

The drivers for the night are going to be invited, these include locally Danni & Wayne Hill, Ryan Hyrhorec, former crow eaters Lance Justice & Kate Gath & three others i can't remember

Also the UFO sulkies are banned (personally I don't like them anyway as too many horses lock wheels compared to previous years

by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer: John Lewis

MEDIA RELEASE
Further to the historic announcement that the Trots are returning to the Wayville Showgrounds on Friday 27 October 2017, HRSA are also delighted to announce the 12 Drivers invited to compete at the race meeting. The invited drivers are as follows:
Dani Hill
Wayne Hill
Scott Ewen
Kate Gath
Josh Holberton
Ryan Hryhorec
John Justice
Lance Justice
Anthony Robinson
Ken Rogers
Greg Sugars
Geoff Webster
The level of interest in this event has been unprecedented, and the announcement of the drivers to compete is expected to generate even more hype and excitement. The list features some of Australia’s best drivers, with all of the invited drivers having a current or past connection with South Australian harness racing.
Many of the drivers also have a very strong connection and long lineage with Wayville including Holberton and Webster who were household names at Wayville in its golden era. Both families will be represented at the race meeting by Josh Holberton (grandson of Alby) and Geoff Webster (son of Lloyd).
Planning for the race meeting is well underway. Importantly, the Independent Gambling Authority has given its regulatory approval for the race meeting, with more information to be announced in the coming weeks.

Perhaps for those that want to have a look but don't want to pay the high priced entry fee on Friday week, this will be a cheap way to look down memory lane & how they looked 40 odd years ago & further back when racing there

So downloaded the form...not sure why as I havent been following them for a while now...

Anyway...8 races. Theres a tick.
1385m races.....wtf is that all about??? Thats a big X.
Some hotshots thingy on a saturday night....surely this rubbish belongs on a sunday meeting somewhere else???
Who would bet on that??
Its like 295m dog races.....blink n miss

There seems to be an overload of race meetings at times
Races overlap at times, SKY 1 gets put on SKY2
Having races such as 295m dog races, 900m thoroughbred  sprints, and now 1385m harness races , means that overlap races would be less likely
