Re: Rumour File
Their last penalty for breaching the salary cap rules netted them two expensive premiership players with the SANFL's blessing.
Almost certainly the least-principled decision ever taken by the SANFL?

Not sure Leroy would fit in to the mould at norwood if this rumour is true

Seems to be a lot of certainty on here surrounding this rumour. Interesting.

Re: Rumour File
I suspect fewer and fewer delisted AFL players will be recruited by SANFL clubs, apart from returning players.
They are very expensive and several clubs have been burnt recently by less than stellar application and performance.
We're seeing more intra-club SANFL recruiting and interstate country recruiting.
The only advantage AFL recruits have is that there's no big transfer fee.

Re transfer fees. Correct me if I'm wrong Lee, you're closer to these matters than I am. But I thought delisted AFL players automatically reverted to the state and club they originally came from. Thus if they originated in say Victoria, they attract an interstate transfer fee of something like 20 or 25 thousand dollars. I thought this was a major reason why SANFL clubs were increasingly unwilling to take the gamble?

Terry Milera is suggested to have been delisted from St Kilda and is said to wish to return home to South Australia to the SANFL, his former club PAFC will be unable to gain his services, so no doubt there will be several SANFL sides having a chat with him.

Certainly no certainty on my part, eartotheground, hence the question mark with my post?
Are you hearing otherwise?

There is a famiy connection out at Central for the Milera family...
Wayne, a younger cousin from memory, has been showing some great promise for the Dogs Under 18's and played a couple of Ressies games as well, I think...
Terry would look good in a red, white and blue jumper, I'd say

Re: Rumour File
cc, the transfer fee is $15K for a recruit from another state league. AFL players, I think, are transfer free, but a delisted AFL player returning to SA attracts a sizeable transfer fee to his original club. That may be $25K.
Transfers between SANFL clubs are determined by a 'points' system based on a number of criteria.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's close.

Thank's Lee. I guess one advantage of recruiting locally, is that you've got more chance of knowing what sort of lad you're getting. Certainly there have been some very good players recruited from interstate. Just at Sturt, we've had top blokes like Sheedy and Crane in recent years. But we can also think of some others who turned out to be proverbial 'pigs in a poke'. No names, no pack drill of course.

Re: Rumour File
Stevenson delisted by Port, reckon he could end up back at the Parade unless he heads home to WA
