Round 11: North v Centrals - Sunday 16 June @ Prospect Oval
North v Centrals
Sunday 16 June
Prospect Oval
Reserves: 11:25am
League: 2:10pm
North are coming off a big win over Glenelg, while Centrals had the week off, but before that had a big win over the Eagles. Which side will come away with a big win this week?

Might go North at home by 3-4 goals.

Not sure that a 41 point margin would reflect a 'good game' but I do agree North will win, by about 3 goals...

I think North should win by 4 or 5 goals. Mind you, if they have a lazy quarter as they did in the third against the Bays then they could be caught out.

Match of the round. In recent times you would think if North are able to play their free flowing game they will win. Lose if they can't. But there is more substance to this North Adelaide. That said the Dogs are the best scrappers in the business and have found a bit of confidence on a good streak in terms of w/l. The roosters look premiership capable to me though which means they will win this by 13 points.

The Stringers could play. The Tigers were lucky to get Wayne and Allen for a few years. Allan probably had more skills but he had a tendency to lair-ise with the ball and never saw a head he didn't want to smack if the umpire wasn't watching. Wayne was fantastic of the half back flank for us.

i never saw Wayne ''hit & run'', he also played a grand final with a broken wrist now that takes courage

The Doggies are turning the clock back to the 1990's, wearing blue shorts today...

Is that because North have gone back to white shorts?

Just out of curiousity, when did Central change to white shorts permanently, and for what reason?

Not 100% sure, but I think it was in the late 90's...
I think because, up until now, they didn't ever clash with other sides. North wanting to wear their white shorts as the home team meant the need for change...

After an initial 2 goal burst by North, Centrals dominated the first quarter everywhere but on the scoreboard, with their quarter time score of 1.8 - 4 of which were rushed by a desperate North defence.
The second quarter Centrals were a bit more accurate in front of goal, and began to truly dominate the match, as North looked spooked out on the field with clanger after clanger. North also struggled with Centrals intensity, as Centrals were able to force the turnover time and time again.
After a delay to the start of the third quarter following a half time incident (looked like a mini-league kid was seriously injured), Centrals dominated the third quarter, kicking 6 goals to 2 to blow the margin out to 38 points.
That lead did blow out to 46 points early in the last quarter before North were able to kick the last 4 goals of the game, but by then the damage had been done and Centrals went on to win by 22 points.
Many of Centrals players played brilliantly today as their hunger for the ball was outstanding. I gave my best afield honours to Tom Dunne, who could have kicked a bag, but ended up with 3.6. Paul Thomas also played well, while Ben Dowdell had a magnificent debut for Centrals, dominating the ruck, kicking a goal, and shepherding a Goodrem goal through. If he can consistently play like this, then the Guilhaus/Dowdell ruck combo could potentially be the most dangerous in the league.
All up, the margin flattered North as they fumbled and bumbled their way through the game, while Centrals were ferocious at the ball, and only poor kicking saved the margin from being far worse for North.

A fair wrap Brucetiki, but let's not forget the horrendous umpiring decision that robbed Gordon of a sensational mark of the year.

Agreed MP that was a sensational mark, and should have been paid. The umpiring was ordinary in both the reserves and league matches today.

Can't argue with any of that - it's a shame we have to have an imprint on our minds of the poor umpiring from week to week and not the highlights of a good win.

I think the most concerning from the reserves was it was a bad call that contributed to the melee in the third quarter - should have been a holding the ball to Centrals - wasn't paid, play went on, while the push and shove started and escalated into the melee. Had the umpire called holding the ball, if the pushing and starting had started, then they could have started dishing out the 25's which would have clear up the push and shove.

Lots of bad calls in both games that clearly frustrated both players and spectators alike. The roof nearly came off the grandstand a couple of times.
